Arsenal v Hull official thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I have spent the last fortnight biting my proverbial lip at all the "oop north"and other such "hilarious" comments which have in some cases been genuinely insulting to people of my ilk. Some of the comments I have seen as a regular onlinegooner reader have tickled the boundaries of social racism to say the least. This coming from fans of a club who pride themselves on their equality and acceptance of other cultures and creeds when it comes to people who don the famous red and white. Obviously this doesn't apply to anyone who derives from north of Nottingham. Up until now and indeed for many months I have visited and enjoyed the mostly intelligent and insightful comments from the contributers to this site. However after the recent spate of visits "oop north" for our team I can only assume that this site is populated by more than a few bigots. I am in no way condoning the style of play adopted by teams such as Bolton and Blackburn when faced with the pretty footballing ethics of our beloved Gooners. However I would ask for a degree of respect when making generalisations about everyone who hails from the North. To spoil this I am going to reveal the real reason for replying to this thread: Tuborg lager rules and is available in many bars oop North...why haven't you Southern softies caught up yet?

If you have been visiting here for a while now you will have no doubt seen a few Irish jokes too but you dont see any of us Irish lads throwing the toys from the pram do you ? If you are a genuine Gooner and intend coming on here on a regular basis then I suggest that you get a sense of humour and develop a thick skin cos the one thing this place isnt is sensitive to everybodys feelings and needs  This forum is, the vast majority of the time anyway, a place where there is great craic and banter but if that is too much for you to bear then maybe you should look elsewhere for your online conversations

Im presuming you were pissed when you wrote this. Just lighten up and join in the banter start giving back as good as you get you'll soon be addicted like the rest of us.

As for the game today i hope Nasri is fit and id like to see Vela get a run out for the last 20-30 mins or so depending on the scoreline

Press suggesting Nasri isn't fit for this game, in which case I would be tempted to keep Walcott on the bench with the idea of starting him in CL.

I hope Vela gets to make an appearance today. I'll also be very interested to see if and how Silvestre is employed.

But what is it with these later kick offs? Second week in a row where the Arsenal match has started at 2:25am! Its not even 10:30pm yet!

I'd usually say welcome to the forum... but faack off you big sissy!

Insulting to people of your ilk? bordering on social racism??? blimey

I'm from oop north too (although, living in Bristol now) and the thought that I was being discriminated against never even crossed my mind... so get a life, grow some balls, and find a real problem to sink your teeth into
