Not linked with him I know but I do wonder if mancienne of the chavs is worth a look as he says that he may have to leave them this summer ?
6ft tall cb who isn't great in the air and isn't bigger than Clichy body wise, now imagine him in an Arsenal shirt against Drogba
yaya, yeah right on,

Will probably agree YaYa and 20M and let Cesc go the other way..

Transfer Linked: Everton's Mikel Arteta

Arsenal fans know the deal when it comes to transfer deals: it's only official when it's announced on Arsenal.com.

That won't change this summer. But we know that transfer speculation will be rife in the build-up to the 2010/11 campaign and we intend to keep you abreast of the gossip between now and the Big Kick-Off.

Our Transfer Linked page will feature some of the rumours doing the rounds in the media. Just remember to take them with a large pinch of salt...

Mikel Arteta (Everton)
Midfielder - 28 years old
[Daily Mirror]
According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are on "red alert" because Mikel Arteta's contract talks at Goodison Park have hit an snag. Everton are keen to reach agreement on a new deal for their Spanish playmaker but Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly now weighing up a move for the 28-year-old.

OH YES PLEASE !!! I will stop Arsene bashing for the entire Summer if we get this guy. I would not chose any other midfielder over Arteta - he's got the lot and would be the best midfielder we've seen at the club since PV4's day

Agreed. I'd be very happy to see Arteta here.

But these "Transfer Linked" things on pravda do remind me a bit of a certain Jim Bowen - "Let's have a look at who we could have signed!"

Agreed - complete bullshit but when it involves one of your favourite players you cling to the hope !!

Buffon, Arteta, Yaya, Chamakh, Mertesacker, an indian GK

This sounds like a great plan.

But we all know we will just end up with
the Indian GK :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Yes, but no doubt we would have been "very close" to signing the others but just weren't available at the right price

Steve O, while I do agree that arteta is a great player I really cannot see the point in signing him :? In my opinion we have too many ball players and not enough steel and signing arteta will not balance it out - he may like a tackle but I would compare him to cesc in that he will tackle but he aint physically big and is more of a ball player with similar level's of pace

Augie, I'll stick my neck out as far as to say I think he is the most complete midfielder in the Premiership right now. He doesn't just like a tackle, he can't be shunted off the ball like most of our flyweights. Seriously, this is a guy with a physique, presence and steel that is every bit as impressive as the ball playing skills.

The last dozen or so games I've watched him in he has stood out for his leadership and strength as much as anything else. He is far bigger than Cesc and would definitely lend a new dimension.

I'm not saying he should be top priority but there's no doubt that he is within our reach if we want him. Go get him, Chamakh, Hart and potentially Hangeland and I will start to believe again.

Come on Mikel - be the new PV4 :D

Sorry SteveO, after Diaby, your credibility is shot

And now you're on another central midfielder

For all re Per Mertesacker: No, No, No. I think you just have to trust me.

Whilst I like Arteta as a player, most of the reports I have read say he is an option in case we lose Fabregas.

This is not a swap I want to see.

We already have the most complete midfielder in the Premier League in Fabregas. This is one poorer older swap that wouldn't be good

when i see him play (admittedly very rarely) he reminds me of a really lanky senderos...
