London 2012 OLYMPICS

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

glad that the mexicans won football. not only because i don't give a crap about brazil and usually hate our stupid players, but also because i'm not sure anyone in the world loves football more than mexicans, and they are so fucking shite at it that it's great to see them winning something sometimes.

good on them :barscarf:

I'm not in the business of wanting to send anyone home but In fairness it's hardly a watertight argument that we should allow virtually uncontrolled immigration into this already overpopulated island because they might turn out to be good at sports.

PS. I fucking love Mo, well done fella. I was dancing around my living room :barscarf:

I had a little smile on my face when after the 10,000 Brendan Foster said that Mo showed the Africans how it's done :D

Yes, all it took was an African to show those Africans how to run

Mo's done a brillant job and has realised his talent. Well done!

I sense that Somalia did nothing but give Mo his birthplace.
Britain has given Mo far more than Somalia could have done, after all name one Olympic Champion from Somalia this games?

Mo has repaid the love and respect the British have shown him and I think it's fitting he regards himself a Brit, after all we are all hybrids of other races and cultures.

As for a Knighthood I am sure he cannot be awarded one as he has to have been born here, but I do believe he can be awarded one similar to that of Bono and our own Arsene.

Brilliant run in both ten and five k events no matter the nationality of the runner it was awe inspiring and breathtaking.

Well done Mo

Although I loved the two weeks, am I the only one who didn't enjoy either the opening nor the closing ceremonies bar the odd comedy sketch and the fire-works? :rubchin:

Closing ceremony was a mess apart from the end bit.
So many dreary songs from self indulgent artists like Elbow and Muse, it was meant to be a party!
Still good to see Gooner Daltrey perform, and The Kinks, and as much as I am not into Take That, they were the right choice for that moment, Queen a good choice too.
But Duran Duran should have been there too.

Have to say the Brazilian bit was a lot of fun and colour; nice touch to use Pele and (I think it was Lil 'Ze from City of G-D?) and think they are going to do a heck of ceremony when their turn comes.

Didn't watch the last hour because it was boring.

By the third hour of it I was busier playing internet detective on who the secret footballer is ( http://www.whoisthesecretfootballer.co.uk/ )

29 Golds! :unionjack:

65 medals! :unionjack:

I even saw a British gold medal won and got to sing the national anthem [badly  ] in the sunshine at Eton Dorney. Wonderful stuff. :unionjack:

Yup, Lil Ze was there and so was Seu Jorge, who is a singer/drugdealer in every fucking movie about favelas

We'll deliver a good party, but for the logistics around Rio, i'm afraid it'll be disastrous.

That's what everybody said about London, and to be fair there just wasn't the infrastructural chaos everybody predicted. I imagine that the World Cup will be a useful warm-up for Brazil's hosting skills!
