As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Only read a few pages and it showed a mixture of humorous posts, some very bitter posts and a couple of nail on the head posts - some of the "newer" Gooners that bleat on about FFP like it is some sort of salvation are probably totally unaware of the prominent role we played in the creation of the money grabbing premier league. Money was our sole ambition in that and financial parity and fair play was of no interest to us. I have no real gripe with the system in place (although I have huge issues with champs lge) but we shouldn't be coming the holier than thou now that we are the one's being financially outmuscled
Have to say too, that I have no real problems with citeeh fans - yes they have attracted newer fans who are following the glory but which club hasn't ? We certainly have attracted more than our fair share of arseholes who know nothing about our club and it's history prior to wenger arriving Over the years citeeh have had some rough times and have constantly lived in the shadow of the red Salford c**ts so maybe that is why I am hesitant to slate their fans. It should also be acknowledged that we have taken in a fortune from citeeh in recent years - the fact that we haven't spent it is a different issue but I doubt if anybody could argue that we didn't receive a kings ransom for each of the players we sold them and there wasn't one player sold that upset me one jot cos all were peripheral imo
they are such a bunch of bitter little prats. they've spent absolute millions, won two big trophies in the last couple of seasons and started acting like the most pompous, arrogant football fans out there, and then they tell us we shouldn't be celebrating a draw? get a grip city, your a top club now so deal with the stick your going to be getting every time you drop points.

I just think people on here whinge at the wrong time and just can't ever be satisfied! They were probably whinging that we didn't win all 4 trophies in 2004, probably whinged that we didn't win the treble in 2002.....These sorts of fans will just not look on the positive side about anything. They aren't going to change anything, they aren't going to help, theres nothing they can possibly do to change Arsenal so they may as well just shut up and enjoy watching some pretty good players run rings around most teams we play, cos thats what we do.

ha ha. Best thread ive every read on another forum ever.
best post goes to this chap.
The reason we have a poor atmosphere at the Etihad is because we are quiet, there is no ther reason for it..
by the way it is only 2 years since Arsenal won 3-0 at City.
interesting team that won there as well.
it included Fabianski in goal, Djourou and Squillachi in central defence, Denilson in midfield and Chamakh up front
still we got a draw yesterday so we must have a better team now
they had a player sent off after 4 minutes but much like baba you manipulate the truth for your own devices, talk about the players who played for us but dont mention they played 86 minutes with 10 men why not!!!!!!
I see your point Skizz B but hang on, you cannot have it both ways surely?
When we beat Citeh 3-0 back then and the likes of me were saying 'don't get excited as they had 10 men', this line of logic was instantly shut down and we were informed 'they had 10 men because of the pressure we put on them forcing the foul' and 'you can only beat what's put in front of you' etc...
Which are valid points.
However now, to suit the latest line of logic that a 1-1 draw is better than a 3-0 win, events it now figures, transpire that 'it wasn't all that because Citeh had 10 men'.
Oh but I am the one who manipulates stories to suit his ends...

Yes great argument that. They moaned when we went unbeaten right? And you know this because....

Good, quite refreshing to know that you can actually be happy, maybe your life isn't as depressing as it appears to be.

But I’m puzzled why you think it’s a buried myth that Wenger has had funds. Surely the myth is that he hasn’t had funds? To be able to spend/waste £120m or so a year on wages must mean he’s had money. Over £50m made in profits in the transfer market since we left Highbury must also mean he has had money. Where has that money gone? The stadium debt is the myth. It is easily paying for itself with the extra revenue it generates.
Feel free to debate stadium debt on the Board Thread...there are pages of debate about it there.

Think he is already worth his squad place and by the end of the season I see him as one of four main regulars worthy of competing for the three central midfield places, along with Cazorla, Arteta and Wilshere; all be it that he would play deep midfield whereas the other three are more flexible.
He is also very useful to have on the bench as a right back option.
Ox is a contender for central midfield, AW said it last week.
Yes, true, he looked good when he played there.
But I guess he will be needed more often right midfield if Walcott goes?

I am more embarrased reading this thread than celebrating the goal yesterday.
Man city are not a shitty little football team they had 4 or 5 players yesterday who would make it into anyones top 50 present day footballers and they are losing 250+ million a season to achieve this.
The football and the atmosphere yesterday was top class ,an Arsenal team playing well and deserving of something from the game and Arsenal away support doing what they do best, getting behind the team and quite rightly going mental when the Arsenal score a goal

The problem here is a difference in perception - where you (and I am not picking you out per se) and some others look at yesterdays game as a great performance at the home of the reigning champions, myself and some like minded Gooners view it as a great performance but a game we should have won. We all see it as a good performance but some of ye prefer to focus on the fact that we complained that we didnt win so does this boil down to a difference in ambitions/targets ? From my own point of view these are games that we need to be winning if we are to be real challengers for the top trophies. Realistically I believe that our squad isnt deep enough and is lacking real quality in crucial areas and this will probably derail any real hopes of success but at the same time winning games like this creates momentum which can be hard to stop plus it takes points off your rivals and weakens their belief. There was a time when we came away from games like this happy that we had performed well and feeling that we were close to glory again but when games like this happen as frequently as they have in recent seasons then how can we feel any closer to those trophies we all yearn for ?
No-one is saying that 1-1 at the home of the champions is not a good result. It is.
What I am saying is that 3 points for us would have been the right result. Now how many times in how many seasons have we bemoaned the fact that we should have won but ended up snatching a draw? See what I''m saying?
We've been here year after year. Time and time again. You've gotta wonder why?
Well the answer was glaringly obvious yesterday. Absolutely Wengers fault not sorting the goalkeeping fiasco and not having a "striker" on the pitch until the 70th minute.
Year after year everyone says "We're only two or three players short of a real challenge" Well guess what? Fukin eight years later we're still two or three players short of a decent challenge.
Goalkeeper, striker, defensive midfielder.
Wenger has wasted (and still wasting) countless millions on his failed "project". Spent our money on Bendtner, Vela, Almunia, Squillachi, Fabianski, Arseshavin and the rest, keeping them and persisting to play them long, long after it was obvious they didn't make the grade. Long after everyone but him coud see his "project" was in tatters.
So this crap about not having any money to spend doesn't stand up. Hes been very wasteful with the money.
Anyway a good result but again tinged with a bit of regret for what might have been a great win.

baba can you refer me to one post where someone has explicitly said yesterday was better than a 3-0 win?
the fact is, if we hadnt got a point yesterday it would have been a terrible result. we got a point which was good GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES eg timing of the goal etc however we could have had all 3. we didnt, shit happens. likewise if we didnt win that game against 10 men for 86 minutes, it would have been a terrible result.
what i am getting at is that the two results arent comparable because the circumstances are very different.
