As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Missed the game as in Mexico and it was on at 6:45am, way too pissed to get up, seems we were outplayed by reading arseblog match report, what is wrong with diaby now? Why was the bfg dropped? Chavski.....c unts!

I didnt see much desire out there today mate. We looked like we knew it was over after their 2nd goal.
Admittedly Chelsea stifled the game but we had no tempo and playing one up front is too easy to defend against. Especially when that one is a clown like Gervinho. Good goal from him but other than that his performance was appalling.
I dont think I can stand a season of Gervinho up front but Wenger has made up his mind thats what its gonna be and we all know how long he sticks with something once he has done that.
from my view on the couch, Cech made two world class saves to keep them in it.
I agree though Gerv should not be the 'one' up front, i hope this is a temporary thing - i think Giroud or Pod should be in the centre, and Pod should of played higher up the pitch, letting Arteta and OX do the link upwork - when OX switched to the centre arteta immediately got forward more.
i think forehead did okay, one terrific goal from nothing and a couple of good crosses. he's got 3 goals in 6 games...
if AW bought Giroud and pod to work as a front three, he has to commit to that stop arseing around with GIroud on the bench and forehead in the centre.
i still think that chelsea are very likely to drop points against City (who struggled again today) and United, and so we're not out of it yet but today was a big blow.
Let down by our defence, chelsea are a better team than us, but you dont need to gift them goals like we did, they should earnt there goals. It was a tight game, and you need to make it as difficult as possible for the opposition to score. Our CBs had a mare.

As for Giroud... another chance to clinch vital points in the dying minutes falls to the feet of our £12m striker, and once again, those points disappear with his poor finishing.
- Is Giroud a good striker lacking conifidence?? or just a shite striker? I know some have settled on the latter, but I'll keep hoping he's better than the wasteful shite we've seen from him so far.
Not overly impressed with some others either, but on the whole, regardless of the result, I'm actually quite encouraged by our display today and throughout this season. We work hard as a team, and look focussed and determined to achieve something. Yes, we've fallen foul of some poor finishing and defending of set pieces, and yes, the shadow of RvP continues to loom large, but we're moving on and I'm enjoying this season far more than last, and that's a positive!
Giroud won that header from the corner and hit the post, that other chance was from a wide angle - yes he should of hit it first time. maybe if he was on a roll he may have done.
i am encouraged by our work rate and desire - wenger just made a bad decision with dropping Per and picking Diaby and Ramsay.
our midfield needs to be santi, arteta, ox and Coquelin.
cant see how ox and coq are going to make our midfield better, ox wasn't good in the centre. Ramsey and Diaby were fine at City, and Chelsea's midfield is to be respected, but our defence was back to par, the GK and CBs awful!, how bould makes them do overtime for it.

Well why indeed ??!! I'm sure some of the one brain cell crew will take great delight in reminding me about some of my comments about him last season (which were justified) but what part of Wenger's tiny mind considered that dropping last week's MoTM and most consistent defender this season, for our biggest game of the season was in any way a good thing to do. Rested during the week and with a four day gap until we have the mighty Olympiakos at home.
I guess the part of Wenger's brain that defines his self harming nature. The same part that tries desperately to convince himself that we have three top quality goalkeepers. Last week I said, I'll be counting how many points our clowns between the sticks cost us and that's 3 points in the last 2 games, because any normal GK would have saved the Chavs second and got something on the corner at Citeh. So step forward Vito - your clangers to games ratio is almost up there with Fabianski's now.
Proof if any were needed that 'the project' will never be finished. Giroud showed in one late moment why losing RvP will cost us 10-15 points at one end, whilst Mannone and Wenger's rotated CBs showed why the same amount of points will be dropped at the other end. Seven points behind the Chavs already where a decent GK would have earned us 2 more last week and a draw today. So the shortcomings in certain positions - had they been addressed with replacements well within our means, would have seen us 2 points off the top. But that would be far too simple wouldn't it
PS - if Abou Diaby ever has a game when he loses possession even half as often as Ramsey and Oxlade-Chamberlain did today, I'll be interested to see the reaction of folk on here. They were both fucking dismal today
It's not a surprise with Mannone is it? He failed to shine in the lower leagues, yet Wenger talks him up and says he's a genuine 'no 1' contender??
This is why Arsenal will never win a thing under Arsene Wenger again, the man is so blind to obvious deficiencies.
We have no spine, the keeper is shit, Vermaelen has been very poor for a long time - last season into this, Koscielny, although much improved overall is still liable to make a clanger in every game leading to a goal, there is no defensive midfield at all and our striker is Chamakh MkII and will not make it at Arsenal. In fact I think Giroud will be Wenger's most expensive mistake ever.
No spine = no chance.
I assume the zonal marking is Bould's choice?? It doesn't work.
Really interesting to watch Moussa Dembeld pissing all over the Manure centre of midfield.
As we watch Diaby limp off for "three weeks" again today.
How much did Dembele cost again?

Come off it mate - how can we compete in the transfer market eh? I mean its just the £39m of operating profit this year - before the Summer's window closed - and haven't you heard that Eastmond is going to return from his umpteenth loan to be the next midfield maestro from the production line of Randall and Lansbury. Poor old Arsene's got his hands tied hasn't he? I mean how on earth can he compete in the market with a team whose home attendances are confined to 25,000 less and with no £20m from the CL prize fund.
Just like expecting him to be able to compete with Newcastle and their striker pairing of Ba and Cisse. How on earth can he compete with a team playing in the Championship 2 years ago and that were on the verge of administraton
You really need to get real Baba. We beat Barnsley to Giroud's signature so be happy, sit there and pay your £60 and never moan again, otherwise you're not a proper fan and should piss off to Spurs
As soon as Song was sold the £15m should have been given to Fulham for Dembele. But no Wenger put his faith in straw man Diaby who is out for 3 weeks having got injured taking a shot
You're right SteveO. Arsene's been hamstrung! Poor Arsene, just a measly £24 mil spent on a couple of attackers who have less league goals combined than Ricky Lambert or Steven Fletcher!!!
Imagine Dembele in midfield and I dunno...a semi competent keeper like Cesar or even the Spuds SECOND CHOICE KEEPER FFS. Unreal.
If the Spuds win then our "outstanding" start to the season will see Arsenal behind the Spuds in the league, and behind WBA and Everton
By the way, when was the last time an Arsenal team looked semi competent at OT?
Seriously Wumbatunde, be careful, i'm genuinely concerned you will ejaculate all the moisture out of your body with the Spuds score on top of our result today. Remember to drink plenty of water in between spillages.
This must be the best weekends results for a long time for you.
The lack of urgency despite only being one goal down was an unwelcome reminder of our play last season.
Despite this being the first defeat and us looking better this season, it's still hard to accept a lack of drive in such a big game. As has been said previously on the thread, it could have been any game from the past 3 or 4 years.
