The Yaya Sanogo lack of Progress Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

My dad said he liked Sanogo. He liked his work rate and he's good in the air... only struggles with the ball at his feet, apparently.

ONLY struggles with the ball at his feet?! :o - it's football ffs!

He has pace and movement, something we don't get from the French donkey.

He's good at chesting down the ball, everything else is a bit suspect which for a professional footballer is a bit of a draw back.

Took at least 3 air shots today.

To be fair he tried to play as a proper striker. Looked to offer an option in behind and to feet, challenged for everything, put himself about a bit and got excited when he got a sniff at goal

Unfortunately I just don't think he's much good.

Another one for the category 'Gives 100% but.......'

Don't want to be hard on the youngster because he gave his all in a big game but there wasn't much that made me think we'd unearthed a little gem.

He was much better than anyone on here thought he would be, and to judge after his 3rd game for the club and first in months...... Don't you need a season to settle in the PL?

Given his age, injury, new country etc I thought he did OK. Certainly gangly, but quite a few positive signs. I certainly think we should give him a chance. Much more promising than the fat Dane

You'd think he was the second coming of Christ based on some of the reactions i've seen online tonight. He played alright, had a fairly decent game without ever being outstanding. He was OK. He's clearly not Thierry, RvP, Suarez, Cavani or the like though is he...

You honestly can't say. TH14 was crap in his first few games. I can remember giving him and Wenger a good slagging off.

Sorry but Sanogo clearly to anyone was a poor player...wasn't he? :?

Me and my mates we're laughing...

- once he did a stupid air shot
- he fluked an assist
- he looked uncomfortable every time he had the ball
- then he tried to be the big man getting the crowd going (fair play to him for that)

But I cannot believe that people thought he was even "quite good!", only being honest.

And I hope I turn out to be wrong.

IMO he did ok. Nothing more, nothing less. No idea if he's a player or not yet but happy to give him a chance for a bit. Just saying

One thing to remember is that had yaya been fit, Gnabry would have not got a run in the team.

IMHO Gnabry looks more cultured on the ball and inventive - which begs the question, why did we buy Yaya in the first place ?

Hard to tell off one game but Yaya seemed more like Niall Quinn whereas Gnabry seemed more like Bergkamp.

I wish the kid well and hope he doesn't retard Gnabrys development.
