So Wenger says we don't need to buy because we have Walcott and Podolski coming back?
I may be wrong but didn't we have those 2 available when he was willing to write a cheque for £40,000,001?
If we had made a bid of £50m for Suarez we would have got him. If we had him.....well we haven't and there's no way we'll get him in January unless we bid £85,000,001!

Exactly, he went for Higuain, Suarez and even Demba Ba on loan, so he know's we need a striker. Him denying it publicly won't fool anyone.

He's just doing what he usually does and is trying to fob everyone off. He know's we need a striker but he's unlikely to publicize it too much, because:
(i) Why not use it as on opportunity to big up your current players, like Theo and Podolski?? (can only help their morale)
(ii) Publicizing a need for a particular position can only make is more difficult, surely? (although any chairman/manager with half a brain can see we need a striker)
(iii) Why publicly acknowledge a weakness in your squad when you're top of the league and trying to maintain a title challenge??? - highlighting the positives seems good management 101.

The fans know the truth. The club know the truth. The press have an agenda. Ignore it.

I think the old fella is past it now, even for the lower leagues, but I guess he is a positive influence to have around the place. Maybe some of our squad can learn from him or maybe he could even improve himself if he is fortunate enough to get a masterclass from Bendtner!
worrying ?

have you seen him play this year ???

he's been quality - certainly fitter than the last two years or so.

i wouldn't mind some of that pal.

He wont buy a striker or at least wont buy a quality striker - if we sign a striker then it will be an henry or kalou type of deal and tbh I would rather not bother signing anyone than go down that road

He has been playing in the msl ffs - that league is the equivalent of league 1 so for fcuks sake look beyond history when you suggest potential signings

i disagree. the standard is pretty high now in 3-4 teams. look at the US National team, certainly a lot better than any of the Home Nations.

if all he has to do is make runs and hold the ball up i'm happy if he can give Giroud a breather in the FA Cup and Champs League.

lol, as if we're going to play a weakened team in the CL knockout stage

Anyway, no idea how good the MLS is, but wouldn't take Henry back again. I saw enough of him last time he was on loan here to realise he wasn't the answer, so 2 years on I'd be surprised if he's improved. Anyway, doesn't he only stay for like 2 months before returning to the MLS?

It's time we moved on (in fact, most of us already have) and left memories of Henry in the past and brought in a younger, hungrier (and better) striker this January.

Come on it's a shit league. The standard is high relative to what it used to be, not compared to Europe's top leagues. Robbie Keane was finished in the PL with his sharpness gone but in the MLS he's scored goals at twice the rate he ever did in England.

As for the national team the (other) Home Nations are hardly a benchmark of any sort of quality so being roughly as shit as them doesn't really talk up the MLS much - especially when only one player from their line-up in the last game actually plays club football there.

I've seen a couple of really technically good games this year - their passing and movement is pretty good.

As a temporary solution until the transfer window opens I don't have a problem with it, as I said he looks fitter this year - must be all that shagging Eva Longaria he's been doing.

I agree we need a young striker though

Temporary solution UNTIL the window opens??? :?

Ok :rubchin: I have to ask... are you suggesting we sign Henry NOW and play him until the window opens in January? :o erm... you do know the transfer window is there to prevent signing players outside of the window, don't you?

I thought Henry was still under contract to the NY/NJ Red Bulls?

If we sign him it would have to be a loan?

And I thought it was his friend Tony Parker that married then divorced Eva Longoria?

Sorry, I assumed he was still a NY Red Bulls player.
