Surprising how well that was going until Poldi gave away that fucking ridiculous pen. Postman did alright. Just glad to send those scouse *word censored* back to Liverpool bitter and twisted for not getting the pen they thought they deserved. Perfect.

The only negative is we were pretty much bossed for a lot of the game. I don't know why Wenger instructs them to sit back and defend a lead when it just invited an insane amount of pressure but luckily for us Flappy was on form today.

More than Gnabry ?

It seems wenger rates him above gnabs, which is going to be a shame if he's not going to get the minutes to keep developing.

Let's not go overboard. He worked hard, & battled well etc but almost everything he did with the ball was fairly abysmal. If he could play football exclusively with his chest he'd be pretty good, but other than closing games out when Giroud's too knackered to close down defenders from the front I'm not sure I'd want to see too much of him, certainly not starting.

I'm pretty sure Wenger didn't instruct them to do anything at all.

The credit today goes to the players today that Wenger judges 'weaker '.

For any other manager, today's performance by this group of players would give him a selection headache.

IMHO after that performance flappy, Ox and pod deserve a start on Wednesday.

How the f**k has he got another job on TV? Gerrard, Scholes, Rooney, Shearer! Hmmmm, I think there's a pattern there! As for the game, lets not get carried away with Sanogo. Yes, he worked hard, but we are still crying out for a proper finisher. Podolski maybe, if he is supplied by the likes of the Ox getting in around the back, which we hardly ever do. Anyway off down the pub in a good mood for a change. A little pride restored.

Today we saw the positive difference that a bit of pace, power and width make.

If we start in attacking midfield with any of the technicians; Ozil, Cazorla and Rosicky, we have three very talented players.
But we lack pace and power unless we have Ramsey or The Ox bombing on from central midfield.

For the sake of balance and width in attacking midfield, we have to combine some of the above technicians, with one or more of Podolski, The Ox, Walcott and Gnabry.

I agree 100% - 2 technicians, 2 runners, 2 Mobile DM'S

It's not rocket science is it ?

Well well well. As it often is against Liverpool, bit of a strange one.

First goal was crucial, they could easily have been in front and I think mood in the stadium would have been very bad. As it was Ox's goal settled our nerves. Podolski's goal was class - from a position of no danger we won the ball, perfectly weighted pass from Ozil, quality cut-back from Ox and clinical run and finish from Podolski. Lethal counter-attacking.

Stupid penalty to give away (and thank god it was only one!) but as we sat back the expected onslaught never really came.

Pity we didn't get a gift to Wembley in the next round but its not a bad draw in the sense that a home tie against Everton is a great chance to take out the only club other than Citeh that should really pose a threat.

Only caught from the 65th min after Webb didn't give the penalty. Funny thing is my BT sport buffered for a minute as the Ox made that stupid tackle so I fully expected to see 2-2 when it came back on.

Glad we held on but in the absence of tonight's highlights, were the victims robbed(that's rich coming from them) and were we lucky or was it a solid performance. How did De la soul man get on up front .

I would say probably none of those :|

Started poorly, went one nil up and then other than a flurry before their 2nd we weren't really troubled without being particularly impressive or seemingly well-organised.

Just saw quarter-final is between Stoke (A) and Swansea (H) so no excuses re team selection.

After the crystal palace game, I moaned about how our support was put to shame by 3000 away fans.

Today, especially in the last 15 mins the noise was relentless from the north bank and it even spread into the depths of the upper tier, I didn't realise these peeps where alive! God stuff mind, we at last gave the team the 12th man they needed. m

The most pleasing aspect of todays game was sanogo at long last given a go, and considering we are playing the best pool team for a few years he gave a very accomplished performance (if a bit ragged round the edges), with a bit of fine tuning he will offer us pace, power, ariel threat and link up play that we dont seem to get from giroud at the moment.

The pool defence where all over him like a rash, and fouling at every opportunity something that the twat called howard webb failed to deal with, as well as not sending steven gerard off for a horrific challenge on the ox.

Swansea (h) is now postponed. We will play Everton on that day now as we have Munich on the following Tuesday.
