Great support from the fans last night but sadly the players let us down again. Quite a few of these well paid stars could and should leave Arsenal but who else will pay them what we do.

The fans turned up last night big time, the team nearly did but at this level a team like Athletico where always going to punish defensive mistakes. Griezmann is a great striker, who we should have coveted years ago instead of signing the likes of Giroud.

What a shame that Wengers legacy is tarnished with his inability to coach international players how to defend. Wenger was lucky inheriting the back 4/5 from George Graham, yet once Sol Campbell left we haven’t had one world class defender in the team.

It’s criminal with all the knowhow both Adams and Keown have on organising defences that neither where used as coaches after their retirement, again another example of Wengers arrogance not allowing his players to be toughened up as they should be.

Kos should have taken one for the team last night instead of trying a ridiculous clearance. As for Mustafi, he’s just not good enough.

typical Wenger response - always trying to make out that we are hard done by.
if however they had not been reduced to 10 men then he would have said something like:

"of course if Madrid had a player sent off we would have had a big advantage, but when it is 11 v 11 it always very difficult..."

That’s a very good point. Can you imagine how Wenger would have been screaming if the ref hadn’t given the guy a second yellow and we’d have ended up with the 1-1 or worse ? As you say, he’d have been calling it the decisive factor and it should have been 11 versus 10.

- biggest fault lies with Mustafi from what I saw.

Look at Welbeck cutting in again when there was acres toward the corner . he went down and gave them the chance for the inevitable long ball . He cut in to two men obviously has no left foot.

you got it mate...out of position cant go down the line has to keep cutting in.....he actually stopped Monreal getting down that side as he was taking the space....

Was watching a corner to Arsenal near the end we was 1-0 up....all our players were right up field not one fucker back checking a break away..and that with Greiszman who was sending warning signals all night....meanwhile Wenger sits and watches...LOL.....

The difference between Wenger and an actual top class modern tactical manager was exposed in glaring fashion last night.

At 1-0 up and against 10 men we played a far too high defensive line. I said to my son about 5 minutes before they scored "why is Kos exchanging passes around the edge of THEIR box?"

On at least 2 or 3 occasions Griezeman had gotten in behind him but the final ball wasn't right. It was odds on he'd get in at our goal at least once.

Cue to Wenger just sitting there not yelling at Kos and Mustafalaugh to get back and not give Griezman all that space to use his pace in.

Simeone on the other hand kept rotating Griezman and the other guy in and out of that lone striker role. He knows lone striker is an exhausting draining often demoralising job so he rotated them to keep them fresh knowing our high line would offer them at least one or two opportunities for the vital away goal.

I can't see us winning this now. Against 11 men at their place where they have conceded 4 (FOUR!) goals all season and with Costa back fit and maybe Juanfran too... us needing to push for that away goal.... we'll lose 2-0 or maybe 2-1.

That avoidable away goal last night killed us.

Yes last night really highlighted Wengers lack of defensive coaching.....thank god he is leaving at last......now he is saying its because they had 10 men it upset the flow of the game.....FFS its really ridiculous and embarrassing...

you just knew the longer the game was 1-0 it would put more pressure on us to chase a 2nd, and i felt a massive sense of dejavu with the monaco game when bellerin was the one that fucked up.

in isolation, although we were down to ten 1-1 is not a bad result, just means that now we have to go out to madrid and chase the game, wouldn't be too surprised to get a score draw out there, hopefully we can turn the tables and sit back and soak up ( ) some pressure then hit them on the counter
