SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He has let Liverpool FC down on a number of occasions and has cost them in important matches by getting sent off. On one hand he is a great goalscorer but on the other he is a liability. Imagine we are in the Champ League knock out stages and he decides to bite Ronaldo on his arse.
He gets sent off and we lose the game. Its the biggest gamble both in money and reputation. I would prefer a professional like Higuain to join us instead.
Suarez is a model pro. Gives 110% every game for the cause and has a 'win at all costs' mentality. Unfortunately he goes a bit too far in his quest to win sometimes, and is undoubtedly a nutter, but nothing Wenger wouldn't be able to tame I wouldn't have thought... :|

As I said before Real and arsenal do not have the greatest of relationships fee is now 37 mill for Arsenal would not be surprised it's 24-26 mill to the Italians .

Yep Higuain deal most definitely seems dead in the water... at the very least on a backburner waiting for Napoli or somebody else to buy him. Two thirds of our master negotiating team are on a jolly around south-east Asia whilst the other is sat wanking on Chat Roulette in front of his computer in USA.

Seems like we put all of our eggs in one basket and then, as per, baulked when we saw the price tag. Mourinho said "Rooney or bust" for Chelsea but imo it really was a case of Higuain or bust for us. We ain't gonna sign Rooney, we ain't gonna sign Suarez and we ain't going to stump up the fee Fiorentina will demand for Jovetic - the other feasible striking options like Gomez, Villa, possibly Tevez have all moved and unless something miraculous happens with Higuain it's going to be half-a-season wonder Papiss Cisse on the cheap.

Wenger, whose Gunners beat Vietnam's national team 7-1 here, said: "It happened to us (with van Persie). It can happen to them (United). But anyway, Rooney is under contract. He has two years to go. It's Man United who make a decision.

"We push every week. We work on it (transfers) but the competition in Europe is very hard at the moment. There's a lot of money and not many players.
"We are, at the moment, not specifically after one name. We have not the problem of the wages of Wayne Rooney but it's very difficult for us to talk about any specific case.

"I admire everybody who is a top striker, but at the moment we work well but we are not close to sign anybody.
"As soon as we will be, we'll let you know

Heard this before???????????????
Even if he was to sign one of his spectacular signings, does he really think that will be enough for us to compete..............

I feel exactly the same way, my brother is very much an AKB, and the subject came up between us about previous transfer windows over a BBQ (ha) at the weekend. I said it's ridiculous that we haven't bought anyone of quality yet, at which point my brother said "we got Sanogo" :banghead:.
After much arguing about why I believe he is not what we need to improve, my brother then said "but the transfer window has only just opened". I then explained how many clubs have already got their business done/underway with quality players, and the longer we wait, the less quality we have available, at which point Wenger will use this as an excuse for buying nothing as he usually does.
My brother, realising that he didn't have an answer for that then terminated the argument by saying "well why are you moaning at me!". :banghead: :banghead:.

So Chelsea are going to have Torres, Ba, Rooney, Suarez, Lukaku, Moses, Schurrle, Hazard and Mata and yet their top scorer last season was Lampard and they wanted to flick him - surely one or two of those are easy picking for us.

I think it may be a wise idea to lock this forum for a few days from September 2 onwards

I don't say this often BUT I would rather keep the forehead than buy victor moses - to buy one absolute shit hole winger like Klingon would be embarrassing enough but to buy two of the cnuts........

Meh. Can't say that I'm actually enjoying it Naki, mate.

I can say that I am fucking loving it mate. What a fucking, bloody great idea it was to come to a truly wonderful, beautiful, diverse country that is Australia.
Everything here is 100% better than ol' Blighty.
I ain't going back there mate, I tells ya.
My lifestyle has changed immeasurably, in almost two months.
I play footy again. I train U10 y/o with me bruv, girls included in the team, and they're as good as the boys.
Been fishing, I cycle everywhere. Although the winters here are harsh, I have managed to sunbathe 5 out of 7 days.
The Sheila's are more like Kylie than I could imagine.
Full of bleedin' crims, but hey ho, it's a small price to pay.

:barscarf: 8)
