Good find, mate. Another piece that supports the story. Of course we have no real way of knowing how much truth is in this story unless Dein or Wenger publicly confirm or deny it (and I'd imagine both would be reluctant to do either tbh) but I do believe Wenger at the very least advised Dein, it would be so typical of him. His ego knows no bounds. How many times has he spoken of and advised clubs, players, managers on issues that have nothing to do with him?blair207 wrote:http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/wha ... is-arrival
The author of this article states categorically that Wenger was the one who identified Berkamp as an available signing target.

The exception that proves the rule...?

But in fairness to him, he delivered on the pitch. He had no problems with the proper rough PL (as it was back then). He was really only a cúnt off it. And in training. And at the team hotel. And - okay, photoshop him out.

And lets be honest, the club biggest cash cow is gate revenue. Highest ticket prices in Europe ensuring we generate as much match day revenue as Real Madrid. Yet or commercial deals are always below that of our rivals, and we never seem to flog shit players for big money. Chelsea got 60m for Oscar, yet you just know we will roll over and lose Sanchez and Ozil for less than we paid. We sold Henry on the cheap. Cesc was 23 with 5 years left on his contract, and sold for 35m. Song was one of our first team players, and was sold for 15m. 25m for RVP was cheap. So in terms of bringing money into the club. The fans DO ALL THE WORK!!! Its match day revenue that makes this a cash rich club, as we sure as fuk dont get it from commercial deals or making the most of sales in the transfer market. And yet we are constantly told how good we have it, and how thankful we should be to our manager and board. No one ever points out how thankful Wenger and the board should be to us fans, given its match day revenue that makes Arsenal a rich club.
Bring season tickets into line with what other fans pay, and this club would slide very far down Deloitte's revenue league.
£15m for song was too little ?? I think that we got £14,950,000 more than he was worth

Have to agree. Alex Mong was one of the worst excuses for a footballer I've ever seen; a shit passer, a shit tackler, and with the turning circle of an oil tanker with one broken propeller. How the fuck we conned the Whores out of £15million is one of life's great mysteries. I wanna know who got their cock vacuumed to green light that deal!augie wrote:Wilson wrote:Spot on. The fact that he very quickly ended up being the Prank Monkey at the Whores says it all. Anyone see that toe curling "documentary" that Sky (i think) did - "A Song in Barcelona"?

I know we are talking nearly 20 years ago but Wenger looks so young and ..... well .... colourful, these days he remins me of the John Major puppet out of Spitting image Mr. Grey

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I think that it depends on who you are selling the player to will determine the prices. Oscar was sold to the Chinese Super League which have been overpaying for players while having a long term contract with Chelsea. Ozil and Sanchez both have a little over one year left. If we flogged either to the Chinese league, it would be for quite a lot of money. The point being that to compare prices between leagues, there needs to be some context involved in when they were sold (what year) and to whom (what league, etc). There are also circumstances involved with the player wanting to go, which is probably the only valid point. Perhaps Wenger was too soft on the players wanting out.Wilson wrote: And lets be honest, the club biggest cash cow is gate revenue. Also, I may be wrong on this, but isn't the cash cow the television deal? rather than ticketing?
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
When he played for us he was young but bursting with talent ,if he had stayed he might well have been the best striker in the league ,him and Henry together at Arsenal would have been unstoppable !flash gunner wrote:Anelka a gutsy non primadonna?DB10GOONER wrote:Just look at those players... all strong, gutsy, fighters, leaders, men. Yep. We average around £100million a year on matchday revenue, but we take about £130million a year from TV deals.begeegs wrote:I think that it depends on who you are selling the player to will determine the prices. In other words, a pound shop Eboue (marginally the better player of the two IMO, especially as part of the team that got to Paris in 2006.....). We were on our way to fielding a comedy 11 in the late noughties, for sure.DB10GOONER wrote:Have to agree. In every clip Song is dressed like a twat and trying to be funny. All his team mates just kept saying "yeah he's a great guy" and "yeah he's so funny". Not fucking one of them said "you know what? He's a great player".

When shit for brains held up our record against that of other premier league clubs in the CL as some sort of "proof" that we're not as dire in that competition as is commonly perceived the AKB morons were all over it like flies to shit.
By drawing attention to that he is fair game to all the ridicule he's receiving now that mighty Leicester have gone further in their first ever try than dickwad has managed in 7 years.
But not in the eyes of his cult of course, led by chief worshipper Arsene-licker Blog who are mocking anyone who is using the Leicester situation to ridicule the old fraud.
