Shocking from Guardiola to start Sane, Sterling, Silva, Aguero and de Bruyne tonight. Monaco start like a house on fire and exploit any space they can find with lightning pace. They also tire horrifically long before the end of the game. Every single scrap of common sense says that with a two-goal lead, start with a defensive outlook to contain them and then you've got a wealth of pacy attacking options to tear them apart in the second half.

Instead City barely put together two passes in the entire first half and then despite Monaco barely being mobile throughout the second half, City laboured away with little creativity. Now Monaco have showed that they are no mugs at all and played some wonderful stuff, but they also spent 30% of the time completely incapacitated by fatigue and a team with the resources and quality of City should be punishing that.

Still took another complete brain fuck to defend a set piece ridiculously high for them to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. That ball is simply no danger if they were defending in a remotely sensible area and you just couldn't see any other way in which Monaco could ever score.
