As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Really surprised that anyone gives a toss about Kos leaving. His 'better' days are long behind him and he's just not good enough anymore. He's not the first pro to throw a hissy fit to force a move and he won't be the last. Good riddance, let's try and get a real CB instead.
Because for me the money we are getting doesn't make it worth our while to let him go - if we were receiving £10m I would quite happily grab the money and tell the flakey c.unt to fcuk off, but because the fee is so small I would rather stick him in the reserves for the year and let his career go down to the shitter cos no-one would want him next year. In general I have always believe that clubs need to stand up and take some of the power back from players, but I have always been told that there is too much money involved to take a principled stand - in this deal the money is a pittance and writing it off to send a message to players would be a worthwhile sacrifice imo
I have to disagree Augie. The guy is a quitter and not someone you want around the club at all, I certainly wouldn't want him poisoning the youngsters if made to train with the U-23's. Our 'captain' is a cry baby, hard as butter tosser and good riddance. £5m is not a bad fee for a 33yo has been who is injured most of every season, in fact it's a bloody good deal if you ask me. After getting 10m for Bielik and maybe 5m for Jenks?? It would be a very nice 20m total, for dead wood. There will be a chance we can offload Mustafalaff before the window closes and I reckon anything approaching 20m for him would be a great deal and hopefully we'd take it. I think we'll see one CB incoming, regardless of whether Mustafalaff goes or not.

Once upon a time I would have agreed with you but not anymore in these days of pampered superstar fannies. Rather than appear principled we end up looking petty and vindictive and in the case of Kos that's just a waste of our time. Just get shot of the wa.nk stain and look at the double of a wages saving and getting rid of a wenker defender as progress.

I understand that argument, so put him on gardening leave instead

I completely agree with you Augie. I take the points both Jock and TeeCee have made but I would like to have seen us make an example of this flake instead of giving him what he wanted. Not just out of spite but as you say, to send the message out that the cosy culture you-know-who created has gone!
Arsenal have had a first bid worth up to £55m for centre back Dayot Upamecano rejected by RB Leipzig, who want Emile Smith Rowe included in the deal. Talks continuing today. Story on @MailSport soon
Leipzig want 19-year-old Smith Rowe included either on loan or as a permanent move as part of the sale of Upamecano. #Arsenal are hopeful an agreement can be reached before the transfer window closes. They value their highly-rated youngster at £25m, & negotiations are continuing. https://t.co/fQgsYXdIx1

Ya old dinosaur
This is 2019 now mate, nobody has any principles any more And keeping him would clearly be in breach of Victoria Concordia Crescit too
So we make an example of Kos which I've no real issue with other than in this day and age there is hardly any fuc.ker left who would recognise the fact that you were taking a principled stance. If we now have principles then surely we would be obliged to address the elephant in the room and actually do something about the little flower, you know who, wandering happily about pocketing £350k a week for very little return. The fact that he collects his wages every week must mean that he is devoid of any principles whatsoever.
Joking apart, hopefully now that the new management structure is in place we won't have to worry too much about this sort of crap in future as a player with eighteen months to a year to go on a contract is either signing a new deal or getting shipped out for a proper fee. Phew.
According to @BristolLive, Bristol City are confident of completing the loan signing of Eddie Nketiah. #Arsenal https://t.co/F7T3fTg4fY
I would applaud this deal - if we are to ever have any hopes of this kid making it at AFC in the coming years, a loan deal will be vital for his development
