As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Thierry 3-8-99 wrote:And just when we thought things couldn't get so bad - Andre Santos has left Arsenal are cancelling his contract with the club.
The Brazilian, who spent last season on loan at Gremio, had wanted to remain in his homeland.
After ending his deal at Arsenal he has now agreed a two-year deal at Flamengo, who will own 50% of his economic rights, with the player himself owning the other 50%.
It had been thought that another loan would be in the offing but the left-back was able to cancel his contract at the Gunners and passed a medical at his new club ahead of the Brazilian transfer deadline on July 20.
Hope it is not a joke...but the truth...confirmed?
just read it..same text as above on sportsmole
but to cancel his contract we have paid him nearly 2 years wages. Hopefully we got a reasonable deal..he was homesick ...but at least will never play for us..
Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is a key target for Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis as he prepares to reinvest the funds generated by Edinson Cavani's sale to Paris St Germain.
De Laurentiis, who on Tuesday night expressed his disappointment Uruguayan striker Cavani had opted to leave Italy, tempered the news by revealing he has now made 124.5million euros (£108m) available to new coach Rafael Benitez in the current transfer window.
Cavani moved to the Parc des Princes for 64.5m euros (£56m) and a chunk of that fee could now be paid to Real for their wantaway Argentinian forward Higuain, who has also been linked with Premier League club Arsenal.
Quoted in La Repubblica Sport, De Laurentiis admitted in a question and answer session with fans on his official Twitter account that he is pursuing Higuain, his Madrid team-mate Raul Albiol and Internacional striker Leandro Damiao.
He said: "It's true that we're negotiating for Gonzalo Higuain and Leandro Damiao.
"The money we got for Cavani was 64.5mil and added to the 60mil we had set aside for the transfer budget there will be 124.5mil to carefully invest on Napoli.
"There are various names on the table, we're assessing the situation.
"(Albiol) is undergoing medical tests and we hope he passes them."
Napoli have already signed Belgian winger Dries Mertens from PSV Eindhoven and Real striker Jose Callejon as Benitez plots another Serie A title challenge, after the Partenopei finished second to Juventus under Walter Mazzarri last season.
The Bianconeri have not been resting on their laurels, however, adding prolific duo Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente to their frontline in recent weeks.
"Is there an area of the team where we're better than Juventus?" De Laurentiis added. "It's too early to tell.
"Are we targeting the Scudetto or a Champions League semi-final? We're always aiming for the maximum and we'll be competitive both in Italy and in Europe.
"Benitez was an excellent appointment and the new boys are settling in."
Some cheap old shit from Ligues 1 & 2 might come in (on 31 August when we're already 5 points off the lead)
Who the fuck said Rooney, Cesc or Fellaini are coming? The only ones we've made bids for are Higuain and Suarez. Stop talking shit.
Erm... the media. And a ridiculous number of Arsenal fans if you typed in any of their names on Twitter at the right point.
Thanks for pointing that out mate......I thought it was pretty apparent but diddums there was obviously one of the conned masses believing that Higuain was a done deal when the reality of life is that the club haven't even made a bid for him. All very well people being wise after the event but a couple of weeks ago many a journo and many a Gooner were declaring how he was over in London and that a medical was imminent
If people choose to believe that There's Only One Arsehole Wenker will ever spend more than £20m on a player (plus £150k+ per week wages) that's fine....but don't get all bent out of shape when those of us that can see through this constant drivel remind us of what the reality is.
Even more shit coming out of your mouth. So because some spastic on twitter said so it must be true? You're getting your knickers in a twist about us signing players we're not even in for yet take the piss out of other fans for the exact same thing with Higuain? You're more confused than a blind lesbian in a fish market. Do us all a favour and stop reading the papers.
MM99, all along Steve O has been taking the piss out of the gobshites who chose to believe that we would be signing higuain/jovetic/fellaini/shrek/cesc and all he kept doing was reminded those guys every time another mooted signing dropped off the radar. You then asked "who the fcuk said that shrek/cesc/fellaini would be coming" but steve o never claimed that you and every Gooner believed it, only that there was many who did believe the rumours and you know that he is right on that point. There was no need for you to be outraged at the pisstake cos pisstaking is what this place is all about
According to the Guardian, we wanted to offer Sagna a one-year contract extension but he wanted a longer deal:
The France full-back has entered the final 12 months of his contract and, having failed to agree to fresh terms, he has been linked with a move away. Clubs in France and the Middle East have expressed an interest in him, with Arsenal prepared to offer him only a one-year extension. The 30-year-old wants a longer deal.
But, in spite of the uncertainty and the prospect of him leaving as a free agent next summer, Sagna is ready to show his commitment to the Arsenal shirt for one more season, at least.

I'd offer him a two-year deal. He'd be 33 by the end of that contract.
He is worth a two year deal with a rolling first option on further years.
Could be worth his weight in gold as a centre back if needed, as well as his regular right back berth.
The thing is, Bergkamp signed a rolling one year deal and played into his late 30's so such contracts are not the end of the world.

The thing is that the day he then gave "geriatric silvestre" a two year deal, the whole basis for his over 30s policy went down the shitter - I defended wenger over his 1yr rolling contracts policy even when pires left as a result of it because I felt that if the great Bergkamp had to live by that rule then so should every player but to then turn around and gave a manure reject a 2yr deal having never served the club.....it was disgraceful

Say it ain't so.
Ha fucking ha.
The winner takes it all, eh Arsene !!?!!
How are you enjoying Western Australia mate?
Meh. Can't say that I'm actually enjoying it Naki, mate.
I can say that I am fucking loving it mate. What a fucking, bloody great idea it was to come to a truly wonderful, beautiful, diverse country that is Australia.
Everything here is 100% better than ol' Blighty.
I ain't going back there mate, I tells ya.
My lifestyle has changed immeasurably, in almost two months.
I play footy again. I train U10 y/o with me bruv, girls included in the team, and they're as good as the boys.
Been fishing, I cycle everywhere. Although the winters here are harsh, I have managed to sunbathe 5 out of 7 days.
The Sheila's are more like Kylie than I could imagine.
Full of bleedin' crims, but hey ho, it's a small price to pay.
Glad to hear it mate, you'll love summer, the bikinis are tiny

I don't say this often BUT I would rather keep the forehead than buy victor moses - to buy one absolute shit hole winger like Klingon would be embarrassing enough but to buy two of the cnuts........
First Arteta, then Jack and now Sagna, all imploring the gormless fuckwit to sign some top quality players. Seems to me as if the players are reaching the stage where they're done with Turnip. Hope so. If he loses the dressing room and the fans there's no way the American gimps can reward his incompetence with a new contract.

maybe Arsene losing the dressing room is our only hope, would make my day if a couple of them actually came out and slagged him off, pressure and discontent from us is making no difference, maybe its time for the squad to turn on him
