As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Quality Rodders, give yourself a pat on the back
Doesnt Rodders like to give himself a pat on the front Stu...........?
Pretty straightforward I think Flash......ego and power.
One glance at history teaches us a lot about the characteristics of a dictator. I won't list them, they've been listed a million times before on here. Suffice to say, he ticks every box.
Money is probably not the major motivator, but I do suspect that he's an avaricious bastard.
He's also a sad and probably lonely old fucker. There is nothing in his life except football, as he admitted early in his tenure and his missus left him a couple of years ago. He commented on his personal situation a year or so ago, pretty much attributing his break up to his football obsession, saying that he'd told his wife he'd retire soon, but hadn't done so. Made the point that football was all that was left for him. That's when I knew (actually, I already knew !) that we'd never be rid of him.
A psychiatrist would have a field day with the old nutter.
Oh and lastly......what DB10 said !
If its a football thing he could get a job elsewhere pretty easily it must be more than that
It's much more than that. My opening gambit is the key. Ego and power. At no other club would be get to exercise so much power....the pure unbridled power he gets at the Arsenal. That power feeds his gargantuan ego.
The other points I made are secondary.
When you think about it he is probably loving all the attention he is getting right now.
in footballing terms Arsenal are irrelevant this season, yet because Wenger has made everything about him, he IS the biggest football story around at the moment.
And thus his "I have made my decision... and will tell you soon..." horseshit, dragging out his time in the spotlight as the big football story this month.
Why not...if he can't be Manager of the Month, why not be the Story of the Month.

No no, I mean I'm sad that Cashley is laughing at us. More angry though, I think.
Wasn't having a go at you, mate - just a rant about the dirty little chav cúnt.
I remember when GG and others used to say that all players regretted it after they left The Arsenal, and that very very few went onto better things. Thanks to Wenger and the Board that is now a thing of the past... along with our crest, our stadium, and so many of our traditions like the Captain choosing sleeve length and the players arriving for matches in the club blazer.
What he's referring to is the turmoil that set in following Dein's going. For a while, it looked as though Wenger who was close to the former vice-chairman, might also go. Hill-Wood went with Danny Fiszman, the club's principal shareholder, to see the manager. He denies they had to plead with him. "We said: 'We'd like you to stay.' He said: 'I'm very happy, I would like to stay.'"
Come on, I say, it can't have been that simple? "There was no twisting of his arm I assure you. He's got the best manager's job in the world. There's no interference, he's got all the money he ever needs. Nobody ever queries his selections or his methods. As a board you've got have patience. At Chelsea, Roman Abramovich interfered. He owned it and spent a lot of money and that was his right - but it's not our way."
