RVP challenged the club to prove its ambition, and they withered away and sold RVP and replaced him with Giroud and Podolski. What I want, is for the board to not get their hands on the money. The board want to sell Sanchez and get their 50m, whilst in the process get rid of a 'problem' player, which by their standards is a player telling the club it must do more to improve. If Sanchez sticks to his initial promise, then the board and Wenger might be cornered into actually spending on other players in order to tie up Sanchez as an asset. I would rather have Sanchez for another year, and the money driven board and manager feel the pain of watching a 50m+ asset walk free.
Some fans might say you need to take the money and re-invest it into the team. Is that what you call it, 're-invest'? remember when we sold Nasri and Cesc in the same year and pocketed 60m which was huge money just a few years back. What did the club do? Nothing. Made no effort to sign players and went to Old Trafford with a team so bare thin we had Coquelin make his debut, and a bench of, Fabianksi, Miquel, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lansbury, Ozyakup, Chamakh, Sunu. Got smashed 8-2 then Wenger did the transfer dash.
The club doesnt reinvest money. They bank it. So I would rather Sanchez stay for another year and leave on a free, than these greedy fuckers get another windfall.
Can you imagine modern day Arsenal allowing this to happen??? The entire club is driven by greed, it is inconceivable. In fact if Wenger allowed this to happen Kroenke would probably fire him.
Thats why I hope Sanchez stays. Because if he really wants to stay in London yet wont sign a new contract, this board would offer him to Chelsea, and perhaps even Spurs in order to find a buyer. I literally believe this club would actively shop Sanchez to Chelsea or Spurs if Sanchez was to neither show desire to go abroad, or sign a new contract.
I would rather enjoy Sanchez for another year and lose him on a free, before watching this spineless manager and board sell our best player to a domestic rival, with the intention of banking the money and not spending it. Thats what they did with RVP and Nasri, sold players to a domestic rival and showed no intention of using the money to break the bank for a like for like quality replacement.
Remember the days when Ferugson used to come knocking for Patrick Vieira and was told to simply FUK OFF. Remember the days when we were luring Sol Campbell from Spurs. Those were the days we were strong, however now we roll over. When Liverpool wanted Hienze, Ferguson said no and didnt budge, and eventually Hienze went to Real Madrid. If we were strong, we would do the same and tell Sanchez he is free to leave abroad, or, he stays for another year - no third option. However, you just know this club will surrender with 50m at stake, and Chelsea, and Man United and Man City know this too, Thats why they always circle us every year - because they know their is a weakness at this club that doesn't exist at theirs. And they look to exploit.
