This excites me. Would be a stupendous signing.

personally I'd rather we sign a trequartista playmaker and a couple of strikers
I think Coquelin and Frimpong have real potential

Neither are as good as M'Vila, and anyway, Frimpong will never make it and Coquelin is more of a box to box midfielder rather than a pure DM like M'Vila.

injuries or ability? I think the fact he has played with Jack for over a decade is a big advantage
as is the fact he's a Gooner

I agree. Djourou is an excellent back up.
lets just hope we dont have to use him as much as this season.

I said I see it as a misallocation of resources - unless we are selling the BFG
which I think would be a mistake

he is inexperienced at the top level - took Kos a while to become as good as he has been (our best CB this season)
no reason to think Vertonghen would assimilate faster

he is highly rated and widely wanted - obviously a good player
I just don't think we need to buy a CB

we DESPERATELY need creativity and goals

Mikey you are being very selective in what you are saying and it is a misrepresentation of what we said - I am not judging the guy at all and am not saying if he is quality or not but I for one do not want to get into next season seeing song, walnut or the forehead as first 11 players therefore improving the quality at those positions should be a bigger priority unless wenger is selling one of our existing centre backs first. That is all I have said and twisting my words wont change that
