Yeah, but people said the same about Nasri and Cesc, and sadly it's not that simple.Eboue-Why? wrote:Robin it's simple. Sign the contract or piss off now.
They're under contract so can't just "fuck off" (even if they really want to!)... it's up to Arsenal and A.N. Other FC to come to an agreement... and based on last summer, that involves us wasting all summer on it and then finally selling once the new season has already started, thus giving us no time to replace them and fucking up our entire season.

Re: Van Persie Saga/Coffee morning
If you were RVP and not a life long gooner would you stay, would you... - honestly!
Re: Van Persie Saga/Coffee morning
Even as a life long gooner, I'd put my career first and leave. Put a superclub and trophies on my CV by trying to get a move to Barca, Real Madrid or United. Money would come a very distant third behind trophies and joining a prestigious club.Jock Gooner wrote:If you were RVP and not a life long gooner would you stay, would you... - honestly!

Totally agree. Read that FT article and it's excellent.g88ner wrote:Even as a life long gooner, I'd put my career first and leave. The part that really sticks out for me is that it's reminded that RVP openly asked Wenger if he could sign Van der Vaart (for £8 mil). Our Dear Leader said no though, much better to wait and spend £11.5 mil on Gervinho instead

RVP must be sick and tired of Wenker, he wills hold and Will go. He's wasting the best years of his career at Wenger FC.
He just needs to look at Cole, Nasri, Cesc and Clichy, to know that winners cannot prosper at Wenger FC.

Re: Van Persie Saga/Coffee morning
Bang on the mark. We (by which I mean other gooners!) keep turning on the likes of Cole and Nasri slagging them off and bemoaning their lack of loyalty when in fact they are progressing their careers. Arsenal is a graveyard now as far as career progression goes, we are no longer at the top so now we provide a stepping stone for those who want to get to the top of the game. Stop blaming them and turn your attentions to the board / AW instead. Even more of a kick in the nuts was that plonker levy managed to dig his heels in over Modric last year. AW leaves contract negotiations so late that we have no bargaining power left.Babatunde wrote:Totally agree. I swear a tear came to my eye reading that article

Really you cant help but sit back and admire the man - admire the ambition, admire the drive, admire the total committment to his profession and it is for all those reasons that makes you accept deep down that he needs to leave our club

I know that I am 100% in the group that says that he must be sold this summer if he doesnt sign a new deal but I am not sure the club can recover from losing him - if we lose rvp we are not only losing our best player, our captain and a top quality striker but we are losing a player that is probably the last of the players that the fans have a real affinity with and I dont think even signing david villa, higuain or anybody else would fill that void

As a gooner, if I was good enough to play for my club I would never leave it just to win tin pots with some other bunch of *word censored*. Thats the difference between fans and players, they'll give us the PR spiel about how the club is "in their heart" but its not. They may like the people and lifestyle they associate with Arsenal and London but they care not a fuck for the club. This doesn't upset me particularly (although I dont like being patronised), as long as they give 100% whenever they walk onto the pitch and honour their contracts/approach seeking a move in the right way then I cant complain.

Even if Stan splashed the cash who would the club be able to sign now if RVP leaves. We have reached the point now where the thought of the likes of Villa or Higuain or any serious signing wanting to come to arsenal is....and it hurts to say this....laughable.
'Thats all folks' all your star players have gone

Re: Van Persie Saga/Coffee morning
One thing you guys are missing is that you can still sign quality players at a decent cost. Vertongha going to Spurs says loads about Arsenal.
Board and Manager letting the players down and the club. RVP is the best in the Prem and yes it looks like he is going. Its a cras joke and why I no longer an Arsenal membership holder.
In fact I refuse to spend anything on Arsenal until the board changes hands. I know what Kronk is about and we had to wait 5 years for the toss pot to take over.

I agree with you but you can't just mention Nasri, Clichy and Cole without mentioning Flamini and Hleb, it works both ways.
Van Persie has given one good year in eight and is still contracted, while.we all want the best he can't get above himself and start calling the shots because he finally gave us one good year.
