WALCOTT - which position is best etc?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Not at all.

Having met him at a charity function and spent a decent amount of time talking to him I can tell you he is sharp as a tack with a quick wit.

Can I just say that I have read the guy's book and heard him interviewed on many occasions, and as a person I don't have any grumbles with him at all. He doesn't come accross as being thick or arrogant, and seems much more at ease in the background rather than the spotlight. He comes from a good family and when you read his own thoughts about his selection for the 2006 World Cup, he comes across as a pretty humble sort of guy

I genuinely want the bloke to succeed and when he has a decent game, I am one of the first to come on here and say it.....and this season he has had more decent games than in any other.

I just can't have it said that he is somehow harshly treated by the fans when I've seen some of the stick other Gooners past and present have received for far less than him

He is thick, he is intelligent, he is arrogant, he is humble......personally I dont give a f**k but one thing I feel he is, is deluded. I cannot let go of the comment he made earlier this season about how the good results were not just about him and rvp......too fcuking right they werent cos you contributed f**k all    Again I also associate his wage demands as coming from somebody who believes that he is the 2nd best player in the squad cos if he got that wage he would be the 2nd highest player in the club and that is fcuking mental

The wage demands can be taken with a pinch of salt.

Do the papers really know how much he is "demanding?"

More likely they have made up a figure of what they think his negotiating position will start at.

No way do the journalists know what his minimum wage demand will be.

Theo's work with Sagna down the wings defensively is very impressive, it his most ignored aspect of his game. 'Football Intelligence' is a highly subjective manner, which the media seem to jump on because it sounds good about Paul Scholes. Lots of players aren't 'celever' like a Fab or a Bergkamp, but they have other aspects to their game. Footballing Brain is in itself, a nonsense phrase.

the moog wrote:please say you're kidding. really, 3 shots and two crosses from a forward on that kind of money. shocking

the moog wrote:i do not have a figure but for a player to state the figures quoted is a disgrace. 2 crosses FFS he plays out wide. i could go on. the bloke is as thick as they come and has not got a clue.
So you say you're shocked at the figure given but also unable to give a figure that is acceptable to you? I could be wrong but it sounds to me like either you don't really know much about football or are unable to construct an argument or debate and instead simply rant!

According to opta RVP has had 119 shots in 33 league appearances this season which is just over 3.6 shots per game - not a huge improvement on Walcott's supposed target - is that shocking as well???

100k per week ?? Please f**k off and take your delusions of grandeur with you when you go

Tonight showed yet again that he is an impact sub at best and there is no substitute worth 70k a week much less more than that so time to ring dogleash and see if he will spunk even more money on average english players again this summer

Hide behind their fullback and as soon as he gets the ball he looks to pass it back to Sagna. Other than pace what has this wanker got. He'll score the occassional goal to paper over the cracks and get people on his side but the truth is he is fucking *****. He's also a first class coward. When the chips are down we are automatically a man down with him on the pitch. 100k a week you're having a fucking laugh

Another shocking performance tonight by Feo.6 good games a season does not warrant £100k a week.

Please Kenny take him off our hands

Walcott is utter shite, and even if he stays at the club for another 10 years - we will still be saying the same things - there is no sign of improvement,
