FC Barcelona have paid a fee of around €20M for Ivan Rakitic, who is a direct replacement for Cesc Fabregas. Player will earn €8m per year.

Wenger is always banging on about loyalty, the fact that he never breaks a contract etc. etc. And he has been ridiculously loyal to twats like Denilson, Bendtner, Squillaci and Santos.
He may feel that Fabregas threw that loyalty back in his face when he forced his move, and now he has the opportunity to pay him back by not welcoming him back with the open arms that Cesc was expecting.

And yet he brought back flamoney, henry, jens and a player (sol) that walked out on his team at half time of a game at highbury  (that eye rolling emoticon is aimed at wenker btw)
True... but they were not about to cost the best part of thirty million though.

No but we got 35m a few years ago when we sold cesc and we got sweet fcuk all for the other players (cant remember what we got for henry but I do remember being very critical of the fee we received at that time)

When are you and others going to realise Cesc hasnt snubbed us we have turned him down.We had first option to buy him we turned it down. The reason Cesc will not be playing for Arsenal next season is Wenger not Cesc.Stop this stupid crap about him being a mercenary. And when Ozil fails to turn up at the Etihad The Bridge Anfield and OT again next season you know who to blame

Don you are wasting your time - truly bewildered as to the way some people are absolutely CHOOSING to ignore the fact that cesc will only sign for the chavs or mancs IF WE DONT WANT HIM   He wants to sign for us and every media site out there has confirmed this, so he isn't betraying us or following the money by signing for someone else
I already gave you the reason Cesc is a being criticised (by me at least) - his undying love, fuck everyone but Arsenal quotes.

Woe betide anyone who has a different opinion to your own as it doesn't seem to be acknowledged.

Contrary to the BS I've seen on here I don't think Fabregas wants to return to Arsenal and the boss might be embarrassed if he did .
Fabregas had a MASSIVE fall out with le cock over his leaving and here is why .
Fabregas had asked to go back to Barca the previous season and whilst Wenger tried to talk him out of it he ended up saying that if he gave him 1 more season with full commitment he would let him go .
When the end of the season came Wenger reneged on the promise claiming the board wouldn't let him sell him and Fabregas and he had a huge row .
Incensed by what he saw as double dealing by Wenger ,Fabregas then called Gazidis and told him to get the deal done as he would not play another game for Arsenal .
Gazidis then did the deal with Wenger washing his hands of it like Pontius Pilate but was lowballed by Barca who knew all of the above and used it to their advantage .
I have no clue if they have since made it up but there was a lot of ill feeling at the time .
None of this u will read in the press but I warrant it's accuracy !

If I hadnt acknowledged it then I wouldnt have responded to it - anyway I actually like when people have different opinions than me, but what I dont like/accept is that those who would slate cesc if he joined the chavs have refused to acknowledge the fact that he would probably only do so if we reject him. I have yet to see any of them come up with a suggestion as to what cesc should do at this point in his career - if barca want to sell him and we dont want to buy him, then ye tell us what the guy is supposed to do :?

Gutted that we've passed on the chance to sign him. Even putting sentiment to the side, he's one of the best midfielders in the world, he would improve any team and so far I've not seen anything that says Ozil is anywhere near as good, and if he's the reason we haven't signed Cesc then i want to see a massive improvement on his performances next season.

The only way I'd be able to understand us not signing him is if we sorted out all the priorities & signed 2 GK's, CB, and then top a quality RB, DM, LW, CF for the first 11, but we wont...

If Chelsea get this deal & Costa wrapped up, then i can't see them not winning the league next year.

Augies spot on, clearly we dont want Cesc- Big big mistake, but then we dont honestly know what the ins and outs are- probably come in someones book sometime.

Our loss, but what on earth is the anx with Cesc for- theres never been any indication we would be interested this time (Nor last Summer when Manure were linked)

Im heartbroken, honestly, but pissed off with AFC not Cesc- the whole handling of him the year or so before he left wasnt done well, that much is clear (F1 thing etc)

If any Gooner boos Cesc then they will be total tits in my book.

Seems to be a feeling in spain that this is not as black and white as the english press are making it seem. Reports in the spanish media are coming across that darren dein has indeed met with arsene wenger to discuss the deal

Guillem Balague @GuillemBalague
The Cesc transfer wont take place today -not done yet fully.
Make of it what you will. It's going to be absolutely disgusting seeing him play for Chelsea if he does move there.

Seeing Cesc in a Chelsea shirt is going to sting. There's no denying it. However, as someone said on here earlier, it won't sting nearly as much providing that we sort out every position that needs to get sorted.

Oh, and as a little side note; if Cesc is doing the unthinkable and does end up going there, it will be interesting to see how he fits in to their style of play. I'm sure he'll do well there, but I'm not convinced that the rigid defence-minded style will suit him as much as the fluid, fast, attacking style that he's been a part of for his whole career.

But fuck him. I don't care now, either way 8)

I'm starting to get over it now. I've convinced myself that we will buy world class players in the positions we need to.... :barscarf:
