Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)
Re: Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)
MSN report that Arteta and Mertesacker influenced the Arsenal hierarchy to sign Welbeck when it was known that he was available??? Wenger saying he would've agreed a loan deal with an option to buy, to me sounds like him trying to live up to the reputation of being a bit tight with money, not sure he would used that as a disguised denouncement of welbeck's ability after all Welbeck was on the wanted list to swap if Vermalen went to united.
The more obvious swipe at united's youth development seems to have been overlooked.
"Arsene & Alex - the private conversations" - now that would make great reading

If You, Me and the World were picking the team yup! But this is wenker - Put it this way would you be willing to bet your 1st born or your home on it!?RespectTheUmlaut wrote:Wenger said in the end it came down to a permanent deal or a loan with an option to buy. It's clear that he had both options and we chose to buy the lad, this just stinks of the media trying to create something that isn't there and I won't entertain the notion for a second.
I'm just glad that we won't (surely, Wenger?) have to watch Sanogoals saunter around up front against Man City?

Chamber's (whispering) "Yeah mate but keep it down - Those postman have feckin' good hearing"
Whilst Jack is saying to Welbeck " What you told Wenger & Gazidis it was a permanant move or they could go fuck themselves?! - There's NO WAY you;re gonna start on Saturday"
Meanwhile in the far distance someone can be heard

What positive message is he trying to send out by saying he personally wouldn't have signed him full time?

A gobsmacking thing to say however everybody knows that two negatives make a positive, maybe at his next press conference he will make a freudian slip & call him Welshitnorthbank123 wrote:What positive message is he trying to send out by saying he personally wouldn't have signed him full time?

From my point of view I think the lad has said all the right things & I'd love it if he gets anywhere near the legend that is TH14......but as the arrogant twit said they other day 'People are better informed these days. Many of them are better informed than I am. But all of these opinions don't mean people are right'

I am probably in a minority here but I would be tempted to start with Sanogo on Saturday.
Give him the first half and see what happens. As I have mentioned in other threads I still believe he could come good.
Then Welbeck can come on at half time if necessary.
I think Wenger will be reluctant to start Welbeck as he played the other night.

You would give him the benefit of the doubt against the league Champions? Wow.Gunner Rob wrote:I am probably in a minority here but I would be tempted to start with Sanogo on Saturday.

Sonogo played twice last week too, doubt that will be a factor.

It is less than a month since Sanogo caused City problems in the Community Shield- he may well do the same on saturday

What problems??? Don't get me wrong, in the initial phase it was nice to see defenders actually have to think about looking behind them as opposed to just being able to get right up Giroud's arse. But Sanogo never does anything with these problems he supposedly causes defenders.Gunner Rob wrote:It is less than a month since Sanogo caused City problems in the Community Shield- he may well do the same on saturday

Surely you mean "in the 74th minute" as is the way with Wenger?Gunner Rob wrote:Then Welbeck can come on at half time if necessary.
I can't come up with a sane reason why Sanogo would ever be chosen to start ahead of Welbeck, but this being Wenger with one of his stubborn points to prove at the expense of everyone else I fully expect him to.

Re: Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)
Augie, I see the logic in that but I actually think it was for a totally different, and much more worrying, reason.augie wrote:Forget about media hype and forget about the "blowing it out of proportion" argument......nobody is seriously saying that le cock doesn't rate him, but what WE feel he is saying is that he isn't convinced by him. If the wenker defenders dispute that then answer these questions please -
1. If he believes in welbecks ability, then why did he only want to sign him on loan ? Maybe he wanted to take him on loan so that he could come to a definitive assessment one way or the other ? No matter what way you slant it, it still speaks loudly that he isn't convinced by wellbeck
2. If he is convinced by wellbeck then why not press to sign him full time from the get go ? Was it the price tag that put him off ? Does he not think that wellbeck is worth £16m ?
Personally I could understand if he is yet to be convinced about wellbeck and I would agree if he has concerns over his valuation, BUT he should NEVER have made a public statement about preferring to sign him on loan because it suggests a lack of confidence in the player. I don't care about his statement about whether it would have gone through or not had wenker not been on a jolly up and I find the suggestion about how the deal has pissed ferguscum off to be pathetic
I think AW has such faith in Sanogoals and Giroud that he only wanted Wellbeck as a temporary solution whilst Giroud is out injured. That would make a loan sensible as he could offload him after one season as Giroud will be fit again and sanogoals will have 'come good'.
I personally don't think sanogoals will ever come good (happy to be wrong on this) and I dearly hope that Wellbeck gets the chance to make the position his own.

he stands in a dangerous area, but thats it. christ, if we're rewarding players for just being present on the pitch these days we might as well wheel out anyonenorthbank123 wrote:What problems??? Re: Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)
Why would he even bother to make such a vague, ambiguous comment that sends out mixed signals?
He should've just provided the standard lip service praising Welbeck and saying he's excited by his potential, etc.
