As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Very poor performance but a decent point.
We would definitely have lost this last season.

All our attacking starting players were very poor.
Would love to have seen Wenger be bold at HT and bring on Xhaka and taken off Elneny and then bring on Giroud and Ox a lot earlier. Fucking hate going to OT. We always find the occasion too much.

We need to go on a run now of victories. Bournemouth, West Ham and Stoke should bring us a decent return before facing Man City.

So reasonably happy.

But again, Giroud should have been on much earlier, had he been on, we could have won. Instead we lingered on, battered and outfought right up until the 70th minute when Mata scored. Then Wenger thinks, oh shit, I better change the dynamics of the match via introducing a new player. And what happens, Giroud gets his headed goal - the only type of goal we were going to score.

The only up side, was Jose's face when Giroud scored.
u are giving wenker way more credit than he deserves here. he didn't think anything, neither did he react to the manc goal by making those subs. those were his usual preplanned subs, which would have been at the same time regardless of what was going on in the game.

Yes, the magic 70 minutes mark. Either way, the subs came 15 minutes too late.

Someone must have told Wenger years ago its not allowed to make a substitution before 70 minutes, and he fucking believed it :banghead:

Spurs at home, 1-1=fail
Utd away,1-1=fail
Not a bit of improvement on previous seasons, choking in the big games combined with limp dicked performances means we'll end up miles behind the eventual title winners

Thought it may end up at 1-1 but never believed we could play as badly as that....appalling embarrassment of a performance

Only time they did anything, Chamberlain took on his man and beat him putting over a very good cross

Magnificent leap and header from Giroud to be fair...

Very worrying our midfield cannot win the ball and have no one to impose themself on the opposition

Simple pressing tactics with aggression from Utd stopped us totally from creating anything

Exempt Sanchez again who always gives 100% even with a bandaged up leg

What we learned from that - No way that team can win the title

When Xhaka did come on he was absolutely fucking hopeless just like he has been whenever I've seen him, although I will admit I haven't seen all his games. Looks like he'd struggle to trap a bag of cement to me and his tackling is fucking woeful. I have a feeling he's some sort of self appointed hardman of the Robbie Savage mould, where the actual truth of the matter is that he can't tackle for shit !

was at the match, we played the sort of insipid, slow, cowardly football i've us play at old trafford, anfield, and city many, many times. ozil was a passenger when things got tough as usual and sanchez was the only one showing any desire to get forward.

oh well, went fucking mental we we scored and almost had a heart attach immediately after due to giving it a bit too much. i'm getting to old for this shit

Fair play to you for still having the heart left to go up there and watch that shit at all mate! This Groundhog shit under Le Goon has just about killed my desire to watch us full stop, although admittedly a day with the travelling Gooners is always more of a laugh than sitting with the latte brigade at the Bowl.

i think most matchgoing fans see it coming, i remember the anger and general shock in the crowd we lost 6-1 there some time ago, same with the odd shit performance since then but these last couple of years we sort of resign ourselves to it, a bit of apathy in the crowd. one thing that i think will change when wenger goes is that we will feel a whole lot more positive going into these big away matches in future.

GranadaJoe wrote:Ox and Giroud for the goal was just like Geordie Armstrong to Radford. I pine for the days when a winger roasted his man rather than stop, turn back, pass 5 metres sideways, which seems to be the recipe these days.

Football doesn't have to involve 20 pointless passes. A bit of skill, a good cross and BOOM.
That's just what I was thinking - mind you Geordie never crossed from the right very often !!. Long live 'Big John'.
Lucky Arsenal !!. Should have been buried. At least Feo wasn't the only crap player today - he had plenty of mates.
Just watched 'Scum' steel the points off the Hammers. Feck em. :barscarf: :barscarf:

The only surprising part of yesterday, was that I was surprised by Wenger's ridiculous tactics. He starts Ramsey on the wing, knowing it gives free reign to Valencia to start attacks for them. Also, the amount of potential counter-attacks fucked up by Ramsey's lack of pace. I'm no fan of the ox, but if it's a choice between a player with pace, and the likes of Ramsey, then I know who I'd choose. In the centre he plays Coquelin and El neny, neither of which offer anything going forward. It doesn't matter who the playing staff is, we ain't winning anything with such a clueless wanker in charge.

On the positive side, one of our top Nearly Signed XI stars, Juan Mata, had a stormer. If he keeps playing this well we'll nearly sign him again hopefully
