SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

Yes g88ner there is a shit load of misinformation out there but lets focus on the facts -

we have a big transfer budget
fellaini has a 23m clause for champs league club
shrek has looked to leave manure
suarez has looked to leave the victims
cesar is up for sale
higuain is looking to leave real Madrid
we have first dibs on cesc

All the speculation about bids etc is largely irrelevant cos as fans we will look at team needs, players available, money available and of course actual signings we have made and all of these paint an absolutely shocking and worrying picture at the mo Can you imagine where we will be if the expected transfers of higuain, suarez, shrek and even cesc happen and none of them join us ? What available quality players will be left on the shelf then ? We have all heard/read comments about 6 weeks being left in the transfer window but quality players rarely, if ever, move late in the transfer windows and we have enough 2nd level (and below) players. Fans like me are only speculating I agree, but the notion that neither wenger nor the board want to spend big on quality cos they don't like the risk to reward odds, has been backed up by inactivity in most of the last few transfer windows so in the absence of any hard proof all we can go on is what we can see in front of us and how we have performed previously

That's all true, and I'm frustrated as well, but sadly it doesn't change the fact that it's only July 20th (I know, broken record ) - we can speculate, make assumptions, and try and separate the wheat from the chaff in the ever growing world of media misinformation , and I wouldn't expect anything less on a football forum, but ultimately it's still way too early to judge.

But yes, I understand the concerns and I understand that we have a history of inaction BUT like it or not, the state of clubs is always going to be distorted so early in the transfer window, with some doing deals early and some later. Some deals are quick, some drag on. That's just the nature of the beast, I'm afraid.

And as you say, loads of the players we're linked with haven't gone anywhere yet, so there's plenty (in fact, probably most) of transfers still to be resolved... and that's just the most high profile one's!

I'd be amazed if we didn't spend money this summer (we usually do) so the only real question is who? - and only when I know who we sign can I decide whether to rejoice or lose my shit... at the moment, with no signings, I can do neither but prepare my shit (so I can then lose it on demand ) and buy party poppers (in preparation for my impending rejoicing) so I'm fully prepared for both outcomes

I'm very worried about our inaction though, that's for sure! - but in 6 weeks all will be revealed and the fans can make their feelings known. Until then, it's a very annoying waiting game

We may only be half way through the transfer window but a major part of the problem we have had over the past few seasons, has surrounded our inability to start the season with a settled team. If you are just adding depth to the squad it is not really a problem, but we are in need of at least 2 players who would be expected to start in the match day squad on a regular basis right from the off.
Those players need time to adapt to our style of play and their team-mates.Worse still if they are from abroad and have to adapt to the EPL.
And lets be honest here....... Wenker knows this as much as we do, but does he do anything about it? Does he fuck!!

If memory serves, the window doesn't close over the weekend. So 2nd of September sounds about right to me.

Is the Spanish waiter trying to put pressure on Madrid re higuain price by declaring an interest in another striker ? Is another supposed AFC target going to fall into wenger's lap as all other potential suiters slip away ? Will higuain get his move away from Madrid at all ?

Cannot understand how a proven top level striker like higuain still hasn't been snapped up yet I am not 100% certain that he would be a success in the premier league but the price would have to be massive (£40m+) to put me off signing him if I was AFC manager

Officially it's 20 days since registration of transfers has opened but several transfer's had been negotiated and terms agreed upon long before July 1st - it's a total myth that the window opens on july 1st cos in essence clubs start making contact from the end of their season

ManUre, Liverpool and Sp*rs are probably more close to reality as at least they seem to care about money spent. We're behind them as well like, so I'm not defending our inaction... just that comparing us to Citeh is always going to make us look silly.

I do wonder if the only reason we are getting so frustrated with the Higuain saga is purely because it is a player that we consider we have a chance of landing. If we had a chance of signing Lewandowski, Cavani or Falcao would Higuain even get a look in? I doubt it..... I would not place Higuain in that top bracket and the fact that we are struggling to tie up a deal, says more about our inability to compete with the top clubs in Europe than anything else.

I've no idea how much we have, but I don't think it's reasonable to compare us with Citeh (or PSG or Monaco) as their financial might would probably pay off the world's debts, and still have change to pay Bendtner what he thinks he's worth
