This is another transfer window in which we have cut off our nose, to spite our face. We could end up signing Mustafi, but without signing a striker, its pointless. Wenger, for some reason, thinks signing 50% of what you need is good enough. Then, when Giroud gets injured/goes missing for half a season, Wenger will struggle to explain why our form has dropped off so much. Henry left in 2007, and we have had two seasons since then(with Adebayor and RVP) in which we actually had a consistent striker for a full season.

It's a good point. A pragmatic manager with man management skills can get a player to perform above their base skill level. Wenger has never (or very seldom) been able to that. Wenger's success was mostly with inherited or bought-in top quality players - and they were the only ones that really succeeded. The rest, the chaff? He very seldom got them to perform.
