Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
As much as there may be fans who want to see the changes (we all talk about on here) - it is going to take a significant move from inside the club before anything can begin to truly happen....The Arsenal we all knew and loved is Gone...It is now a conglomerate big money business... just we may all want to change a number of the big profit companies - They are faceless and though the club has a public face and voice (wenger -) unless the man who owns it wants him out he will stay for as long as the the ole moolah keeps a kerchinnging - merchandise - tickets etc etc etc...
we are fucked - worst thing we ever did was build and move to the bowl....jeeezzzuss how I miss Highbury, it had a magic that can never be matched.

Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has bemoaned the "shortage" of "top class" strikers in world football, and says the club are "not close" to any new signings.
The Gunners have been regularly linked to the likes of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and PSG forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic throughout the summer transfer window, but Wenger continues to rubbish such rumours.
Many onlookers, including Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, have raised doubts over Olivier Giroud's capability to lead the club to a Premier League title challenge, but Wenger believes there is an overall lack of quality forwards in world football.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of Monday's clash with Liverpool, Wenger said there is a "shortage in the world" of top class strikers.
"There is a difference between financial power and the availabilty of top class players."
The Frenchman also bemoaned the transfer window, which remains open until September 1, by which time each Premier League side will have played four games already.
"When the season starts the window should be finished," Wenger said. "Simple as that. It is too big an advantage for clubs that didn't work well during the transfer window.
"The funds are there, people know that you have the resources, but the players are not available."
When asked of any imminent deals for his side, Wenger responded: "We expect, like you, but at the moment, we are not close.
"I'm more focused on developing the team and the players we have inside the club.
"I'm not against buying if it is really a plus for the team.
"If it is just buying players at the level of the players you have I am not for that."

I seem to remember you having no problem in using the window to trolly dash in 2011 when we were destroyed 8-2, you fucking hypocrite.

Was just about to say the same. Hilarious cos years ago, when he kept failing to sign the required quality the excuse was he "couldn't compete financially". Even though that was clearly bollocks (in large part), now that he can no longer get away with the "cannot compete financially" excuse, apparently; the issue now is that he's got the money but apparently, he can't find the players!BFG4 wrote:"When the season starts the window should be finished," Wenger said. What is he doing in football management then, since Jose, Pep, Simeone, Pellegrini and Allegri all somehow manage to find quality players summer after summer? An unfunny joke AW is.

Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
from Arsenal.com today;
on whether fans have to lower their expectations…
It is simple. For any deal, when you want to buy something you go to see the owner and if he doesn’t want to sell, he doesn’t want to sell. You cannot buy. In our job it is exactly like that. When the players are not free you cannot buy them because it’s the club who decides, the person who owns the contract who decides. In Europe you have maybe 15 clubs with a huge financial resource.

Find that puzzling from Wenger...If it is the case that the club decides if they are willing to sell then why did we lose Vieira, Henry, Cole, Cesc, Nasri, Adebayor, Toure and Van Persie..Did Arsenal FC decide it was in the best interest of the club to sell those players ? "When the players are not free you cannot buy them".. he says. So why did he not say NO to one or all of the above transfers. ? Does he not realise he is making a liar and fool of himself every time he opens his mouth?

He knows he has his legions of acolytes to lap up and then spin his latest disingenuous drivel. As such, he spouts some of the most asinine and embarrassing stuff whenever he faces the press.
Sad part is he'll leave only when he decides to and on his own terms. Not a chance of the senile old duffer being hounded out as he deserves.

It's more than that, the bloke actually bases his entire transfer strategy around the idea that clubs are going to be desperate to offload their high-value players for less than earlier in the window.BFG4 wrote:"When the season starts the window should be finished," Wenger said. Don't get me wrong, I'd be even more pissed off if he actually took a principled stand and refused to sign players once the season had started!
But it's just a fucking constant stream of excuses with him. Smallest spenders in the league - appalling. Yet again his own ego is coming ahead of the club's interests.
Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
The only hope of new signings now will be on the back of a thumping against the Mickeys and another underwhelming result against the barcodes the following week.
Ozil was signed after the Villa debacle and the summer of discontent and the toxic atmosphere that was developing whilst Alexis was signed after the end of season collapse that saw us edge out Everton for 4th having been top in February. in 2011 the mad trolley dash happened after the 8-2 slapping at OT
This year the Wengerites are back to their own form of hero worship and have been declaring how Cech can win us the league, so the atmosphere of the past has been restored and there is no pressure for him to buy anyone on the back of the FA Cup win and end of last season. Nobody is coming

Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
I agree, but sadly most of Wenger's nonsense is down to how passive our fan base is and this means they will let him away with it. You have fans saying that by signing Cech then suddenly we are going to win the title, and other fans talking up the abilities of some of our players(Giroud for example) and pretending they are world class, because if they didn't then they would have to except Arsene is wrong and we could make improvements to our existing squad. Wenger is the cause of these problems but many of the fans our encouraging his ridiculous behaviour.northbank123 wrote:It's more than that, the bloke actually bases his entire transfer strategy around the idea that clubs are going to be desperate to offload their high-value players for less than earlier in the window.BFG4 wrote:"When the season starts the window should be finished," Wenger said. Thanks SteveO

Along with BFG4 I should stand corrected and say that Rodders and I will most definitely be coming on Sunday 15th May
To be fair until Ozil signed my record was spot on. I was even told how stubborn I was being for saying Higuain wasn't coming

Re: The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread
That's true, but the Ozil transfer was the sign of a steady decline in your psychic ability I'm afraid mateSteveO 35 wrote: To be fair until Ozil signed my record was spot on. I was even told how stubborn I was being for saying Higuain wasn't coming![]()
