The Benzema rumour never made any sense, as the likes of Real don't sell unless they have a top striker coming in. They aren't going to sell Benzema and leave themselves short up front. As for a DMF, not a chance will Wenger spend when he thinks he doesn't need to. He has Coquelin and Arteta and he will persist with them.

He's unable to play as the lone man in our wanky 4-5-1 anyway so might as well save the money and spend the money on a decent CDM instead. Benzema would be turned into the new Podolski / Bendtner / Arshavin / Welbeck playing as a left wing back when Giroud is available anyway

My sentiments exactly Change to 4-4-2 and we would have a whole host of striker options open to us (marco reus for starters), but most of them are unsuited to playing the lone striker in our current bollox'd formation and would end up frustrated playing out of position
If we bought a top quality DM then he could fit in with the current system and any other formation that le cock fcuks about with
edit : I would still buy benzema if the option is there because he is still an upgrade on giroud

That's my point - we have soooooo many players who, like reus, can play behind the lone striker, but reus is not suited to being the lone striker himself

He has played there to good effect before so to say he can't is wrong. Is it his best position, that's an issue.
Wenger told us yesterday there are no top class strikers for sale. Now we all know that is not true as most, if not all, players have their price. We would just say go and spend the money ffs!!!
However, with Wenger always seeking a bargain I wonder would he consider Gomis (Swansea) a viable target.
