THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

wow look everyone we would have beaten Bayern Munich had we not had to play the second half each time. So unfair!

by the same logic I believe I should claim Gold Medal in the Olympic Marathon because I am sure I could have been fastest over the first 100 metres :D
Rob did you make that quote up? I worry after your posts in the EU thread

I know it does sound made up...
I got it from the Daily Mirror live report on the press conference

He can't have said that can he? What the fuck am I on about - of course he could! :fryingpan:

First he wants the FA to step in and make teams play in a style that will mean we can beat them, now he wants games to be judged on the first half... if we have had a good first half, obviously...

:coffeespit:

Word is spreading about the boycott already. Dismissive arrogance from Wenger as usual.....with a bit of begging thrown in.

He's just a complete bell-end now isn't he? What a complete and utter prick. What the fucking hell does this whole 'special circumstances' bollox actually mean? This *word censored* has been using that term for twenty fucking years and it makes no sense. Special circumstances? Fuck off. Did a plane land on the pitch during the game and fly away with all the players? Did a dog run on and stop a shot on the line in the last minute which would have won us the game? Did the other team field 40 players and use their hands or a cricket bat? No. No they fucking didn't. Did the other team win 10-2 because they were better prepared, better trained and just generally better in every way and not managed by you? Yes. So fucking shut up , you completely deluded fucking cretin.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... ms-holiday.

Complaining now that he needs help from other teams and they go on holiday now, whereas his teams stay focused and play to the end. Didn't complain about Stoke being on holiday did he...And the only reason his teams play to the end is because they have to, as they take their holidays at the end of January.

Also spuddy fyi, note the op specifically said"
attending a protest on a match day" wasn't feasable. Which would indicate that a non-match day was feasable because the price of a match ticket wasn't involved?
The op was not talking about being "priced out" because of travel imo. The cost of travel is involved whether he protests on a match day or non-match day.

I think you're nit picking there but I accept the point.

I haven't been to any protests myself simply because I'm not going to any games now as I'm fed up with being dished up the same dross. I don't want to part with my money until something changes.

Pushed on the recent trend of empty seats, Wenger claimed those matches were sell-outs, as Arsenal judge attendance on tickets sold before the event rather than the number of supporters inside the stadium.

"Yes, but that doesn't mean we are not sold out," he replied when asked about the empty seats.

"I think we are always sold out so I don't know where you get that impression."

--------------------------------

He just can't admit to himlself that a lot of fans no longer can be bothered to see more of his football and the constant battle to finish 4th.

The impression? lol the seats were empty for all to see stop trying to deflect the question Arsene!.

Get ready for 40,000 at most games next season if he stays.

I think I've figured it out....they scored 8 more goals than us..that's what made it "special".

Listened to BBC five live on saturday...."Arsenal fans" calling in

What a bunch of wankers...one said Wenger is a great man always answers all questions at press conferences..... :rubchin: remember Jacqui Oatley

could disprove everything that was said...total crap...all totally endorsed by some guy called Mohammed who has not got a clue

Frustrating is the word, just like this last minute return to form when CL place is at stake.....its all beyond belief...think loads of old school fans will just drift away now.....

absolutely despise Wenger, can see right through his words...what a *word censored*

I look at this forum as therapy, I gave up on this team ages ago. I haven't given up on Arsenal as I hope one day that I can love what the club stands for again, but I very much doubt it. It makes me so so sad, the irony being that marketing the team as a product and the game as a lifestyle experience has left many of us old school supporters heading for the exit. The irony that the club is no longer a football club, nor has it been for some time. Like that twat from the spectator I'm erring on the side of changing my allegiances...come on Brighton!

I do agree with Wenger on the "sold out" issue though
its what Kroenke looks for too - at the end of the day near enough 60,000 people buy tickets for each and every Arsenal match.
until that figure comes down then nothing much will change - that is just basic reality

Then there is the ST waiting list.... :banghead:
