Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Ian Poulter, fresh from his runner up spot (First loser) at The Players Championship yesterday and being praised to the rafters on every sports programme, was interviewed on Talksport this afternoon. Wenger...In or Out.....he's not sure but very unhappy with the disrespect shown to him. So Poulter, the Arsenal supporting GOLFER, opines that Wenger should stay on for a time and be the one to pick his successor. Ah ha's and approving noises coming from the interviewers. The FIRST thing I would have asked after that crap came out of his mouth would have been WHY????
Pick his successor?? WHY??
Pick his successor?? WHY??
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
The comments regarding matches being sold out is laughable and any journalist with any bollocks would have said he was missing he point and that the ground looks a third empty, sold out or not.
He also says losing out on top four by a point would be difficult to acccept. Well maybe if he had prepared sufficiently last summer in terms of prep and recruitment we wouldn't have lost to Liverpool and Benin a much better position thus.
Honestly there are so many bullets that can be fired at the man but the press conferences are a joke.

2nd question - what qualifies you to give an opinion or judge the reaction of fans ?
3rd question - have you in any way benefitted from access behind the scenes to the players etc. and does that privilege cloud your ability to make a
rational judgement ?
4th question - do you think that maybe you should perhaps try winning a golf major (or any golf tournament for that matter), instead of spending
your time slating the fans who spend a lot of cash supporting the club ?

Yeah I get the feeling they are scripted so as to avoid anything that might touch a nerve.Kvltman wrote:

Losing 4-3 at home to Liverpool on the opening day because we were under prepared and disorganised certainly didn't help did it Arsene?.

So when we steamroll Sunderland tomorrow night because they've jack shit to play for and give zero fucks about the game, I'm correct in saying the wrinkly old woman will write it off because they're on "holiday" yeah?

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Wenger's Arsenal haven't finished single digit points off the Champions for nine season (2008).
Starting from 2017 going backwards 18-20(?), 10, 12, 17, 16, 19, 12, 11, 18, 4
Last season wit Leicester was the closest he came. A spectacular record of modern failure!

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I would love someone at the press conference to ask him does he think it's acceptable for a club of Arsenal's size to go nine season without mounting a serious challenge for the title.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Next season, it'll be open season on him. The arrogant *word censored* has been given a soft ride because there was the feeling that he was going. If he stays, the press will want to know why and will want him to justify everything. The first thing out-of every mouth will be "He should have gone at the end of last season." He'll get what's coming.cameron326 wrote:I would love someone at the press conference to ask him does he think it's acceptable for a club of Arsenal's size to go nine season without mounting a serious challenge for the title.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Sorry Mate - but that isn't ever going to happen as much as we'd all like to see it. The problem is that with the press, they can only go so far without having access revoked and with that, their careers will stagnate. That is just the way it is and it isn't just Wenger, but all Premier League managers. There is competition in the journalist ranks as well and if you get someone booted out for asking pertinent questions, there will be ten lined up waiting to ask the powederpuff questions.Perryashburtongroves wrote: Next season, it'll be open season on him. What will happen is that the apathy will continue and get worse. As Bob pointed out, competition for football will be a bit fiercer in London and considering that Arsenal aren't really a good team any more, they can't really justify the high prices. That is if he gets the contract that he doesn't deserve.
For me, I will watch even less than I did this year and find other things to fill that time. My wife will be a lot happier as well - lol!

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I really hope this happens but unfortunately Football journalism in this country is a joke. You just have to watch press conferences and after match interviews to see that no one asks any penetrating questions. The farce over his contract and his refusal to answer questions about his future is one example. They should be repeatedly asking it at every conference until he answers. They should be asking what right he has to comment about Conte as he has failed to achieve what he has for over a decade (he also said the same about Leicester in the champions league last year and was proved wrong). And his Bayern comments were beyond a joke.Perryashburtongroves wrote:Next season, it'll be open season on him. Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Those numbers prove why 07/08 was the last time he had a team capable of challenging for the title. We haven't hit 80+ points since, Leicester did last season. The sad part is we are going to end up with more points than we did last season. No doubt he will spin this as a positive.cameron326 wrote:Wenger's Arsenal haven't finished single digit points off the Champions for nine season (2008).

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Giving him real stick this morning on Talksport regarding the comments he made yesterday about teams being "on the beach"..he even called them "immoral" Commentators now, to a man, saying he needs to go. Pointed out that we always go on these runs at the end of the season when the pressure is off and how Wenger is blaming basically ANYONE for his teams failures. If he stays said one..it will be groundhog day next season.
You guys are waaaaay behind, our Groundhog Seasons started almost a decade ago.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
For years Wenger has brainwashed supporters into believing that the top 4 was vital in attracting the top players.
Funnily enough yesterday he said "I believe finishing outside the top 4 will not have any influence on the way the club will be led and how we will behave in the transfer market"
He says what he wants
He says what he wants
Arsene Wenger he says what he wants!
