He was asked long ago whether the uncertainty surrounding his contract situation was contributing to the poor results, and he said it wasnt. Now he admits it was. What of the Cup final this week, does Wenger keep us all guessing and the players go into the Cup final with the weight of Wenger's uncertain future weighing on their minds? Surely he has to announce what he is doing before the Cup final, given he has admitted the uncertainty contributes to poor performances. Are we hampering our chances to win the final this week, because Arsene wants to keep us all guessing? This is 'bigger than the club' type behavior.

The only way this situation can be justified, if is Wenger's future is depended on one of finishing in the top 4 or winning the FA Cup, and thus the decision to sign a new contract was never his to make. However, if we lose the FA Cup final, and Wenger still gets his contract - then the level of negligence and competence displayed by Wenger and the board this season, would eclipse anything else. Selling Nasri and Cesc and making no effort to revamp the team would pale in comparison to the above fiasco.

Cant even join the players for a lap of 'honor'. Makes up some rubbish excuse about not wanting to take the spotlight away from the players.

We know Arsene - you knew you wouldn't be well received, so you sat in the safety of the dug out.

Yes not clarifying the managerial situation directly affected the team and unsettled the support, he is totally culpable.....

“Yes, I think this group of players is good enough to come back. They have learned a lot and they have gone through difficult periods this season and they have bounced back in a very strong way,” he said via Arsenal‘s official website.

If he stays expect exactly the same next season......fucking deluded to think that current squad does not need a total revamp

Whether or not it turns out to be true, the FA Cup Final outcome is now going to be seen by many as critical to whether Wenger stays or goes.

It leaves me wondering whether some Chelsea fans are as conflicted as many of us about what they wish for. If we take "Arsene Wenger we want you to stay" at face value (and we should) then for a team used to winning trophies and with a couple of recent doubles behind them the chence to leave us in the proverbial for the foreseeable future might just appeal more than applying a merciful coup de grace and putting us out of our misery.

It's probably stretching it a bit too far, to be fair, but in the highly unlikely event we did win it would at the very least be one hell of a consolation prize for them!

The thing is, Wenger genuinely doesn't know whether he will be manager. He thought he'd agreed it, that he was going to be in place for next couple of years and then gazidis has pushed back and said we need to change the structure and needs to mutually beneficial outcome, probably said let see where we are at the end of th season Etc. That's why Wenger talks in all these riddles. Complete prick. The very fact that Kroenke didn't overrule must show that gazidis has turned his head, perhaps alongside chips. On this basis you have to hope we get battered by chavs, the end is nigh. Also the the "we learn lessons" shit Wenger comes out with...Jesus Christ ..kos gets sent off in meaningless reckless tackle (again).........I rest my case your honour.

There are some teams that actually do learn lessons out of failure. Chelsea for instance when he fuked them up 3-0, they changed it up and actually used that performance to improve.

How many times can we 'learn a lesson'? The truth is we dont. We dont learn the lesson, as this manager and sqaud is incapable of self-reflection. They all live in a bubble and think they are a great team.

ARSENE WENGER'S POST-MATCH CONFERENCE – FULL TRANSCRIPT
What is your reaction to missing out on the Champions League?

'I don’t know yet, because we have not started the Champions League. But it’s very sad, because for 20 years we were in it, and it is the first year we will not be in it. It’s very strange because for 75 points we are one point short, and of course you can look everywhere where we did drop points.'

'Overall I believe that we played since January in a very difficult environment for different reasons. Some obviously that you know about, and that is very difficult for the group of players to cope with that.

'Some other reasons where we will talk about another day. But psychological environment for the group of the players was absolutely horrendous. I am very proud of what they have done, the way they responded and finished the season.'

Why didn't you join the players walking around the pitch on the lap of honour? (Wenger was on the pitch but stayed in his dugout)

'I wanted the players, they have been disturbed enough. I was out there, to show respect, but I wanted the players to have the quiet lap of honour they deserved.'

So you've not said farewell then?

'No, not at all.'

What are your thoughts on the chants against Stan Kroenke?

'I think you respect everybody in life. I respect Stan Kroenke a lot. He is not at fault if we did not reach the Champions League tonight. It is the technical department who is responsible for that. I don’t see what he has to do with that.'

What are your thoughts on that situation?

'Look, that’s not my problem. A club works when everybody does his job. We live in a society where today everybody has an opinion, people don’t stop to talk [don’t stop talking], they do little and they talk a lot. But that doesn’t move society forward, what moves society forward is people who work, really, and talk not too much.'

Is Stan here at the game?

“I don’t know.”

Is this the most difficult it has ever been at Arsenal for you, and why?

'I don’t know. It has been difficult, yes. Certainly my personal situation has contributed to that. But they should not question, I am professional, as long as I am somewhere I do my job until the last day. You could not question my love or my loyalty to this club, because I said no to every club in the world to stay here with very restricted finances for years. So I don’t understand really why the question that commitment.'

What about Usmanov?

“That again is not my problem.”

Arsenal lost nine games this season, where do you need to improve?

'Look, I will tell you as well we won 23. And in the unbeaten year (2003-04) they won 26. So we are not far away. It’s true that we lost too many games and that’s where we will find the points that we missed tonight. That was down to a period where we weren’t stable defensively, and unsettled mentally as well, by the exit, the way it happened against Bayern Munich.'

Should your future have been sorted sooner?

'You have been at the games, and you cannot say that the environment for the group of players was especially positive.'

Why has it not been sorted?

'I don't know. What is important is that we do our job. We are professional people and a part of being professional is to perform when the environment is not positive so we have not to look there, as well, as an excuse. But I just say it's a fact it doesn't help.'

Since February time, have you have offers from other teams?

'Look, my personal situation tonight is not so important. I care about this club. Even if I leave one day, I will love this club until the last day of my life and I want the club to do well. That's all I care about tonight. It's not my personal situation. It's just how well the club responds next season.'

Do you accept responsibility in terms of your personal situation affecting and the general mood?

'Yes. Of course.'

With your personal situation, it is important, therefore, to have clarity sooner rather than later? Is it a regret that hasn't happened?

'No, because if I stop one day, I will still work until the last day of the season. I left in some other places when I was at the end of the contract and I still worked with the same commitment until the last day of my contract.'

You obviously have another game, the cup final?

'Oh! What a subject.'

Is it then important to have clarity before that, surely?

'We won seven of the last eight games, despite the lack of clarity, so I think we have just to focus to win the next one.'

When did the lack of clarity, then, affect the team?

'It's a good question. I cannot give you the answer today. I will give you an answer one day. But not today.'

Is that because the goal-posts have been moved?

'I don't understand what you want to hear from me but my situation will be sorted out soon. So let's prepare for the cup final.'

Who are you protecting by not talking today?

'I protect nobody.'

So why not say what the problems have been?

'Because it's not the moment to speak about some different things. There's nothing bad.'

The fans are wondering why they are not in the Champions League?

'You want to use the excuse of the fans to know more! You have to find something different.'

It just seems like the moment to explain?

'No. It's not the moment. I am free to decide when is the moment or not.'

And there you have it, right in the middle of that little transcript. The one sign that he isn't going this Summer - would you use the term "one day" for something that was about to happen in the next week or so. I doubt it

"I think what is the most important is this group of players stay together because they have exceptional quality, they have matured a lot and learned a lot this season.

“The strength they have shown in the last two months in a very hostile environment tells you something special about them."

“No matter what happens, I’m convinced this group will win the Premier League [either] next year or [in the future]. If you keep them together they will be a force next year."

its now a sick joke.

Speaking to talkSPORT after his side's final day win over Everton , Wenger said, “We were a force this year until December, fighting for the championship [but] after we dropped off.

"I will say one day the real reason behind that but it doesn’t take away from the quality of the players."

Ahh yes - if struggling to find the real reason (i.e. the one that saw you with a geriatric c.unt in goal, 75m spunked on double crock of shit Mustafi & Xhaka, constantly pick Twirly for important games, and alternate between the Lamppost and Welwide).......then throw some doubt on it by using a phrase like that.

Such a dishonourable shit. Not once has he held his own hands up and admitted his failings. I'll give you the real reason one day - fuck off you tired old c.unt. We've known the real reason for at least 8 years.

The so called "intelligent man" doesn't realise what he's doing at the moment. If he really does want to stay at the club he loves then attacking its fans and the media isn't going to make life much easier.

The media is now on his case, the failure after not qualifying for the CL may yet be his downfall even after he had the front to say that it was not that important, and the upcoming thrashing by Chelsea, coz it ain't gonna be pretty will be his final game at this club...
He could have walked with some respect left intact, but he clung on like a tiring old despot who contradicted all what he stood for with his lies and deceit, stating I will tell you one day, tbh Mr Wenger no decent supporter is interested in what you have to say, you spun your own web blaming anyone and everyone except yourself...

The ball is clearly no longer in his court. 'Times' reported in April that he informed the board he wanted to stay and was keen to have to announced as he felt the uncertainty was affecting the team. Obviously no such thing was forthcoming and the board asked him to wait till the end of the season. It was also around the same time it was reported that he felt a lack of support by the board and wish the statement on his future had come from Gazidis or Kroenke. Wenger is a very spiteful fellow and is keen to hang on at any cost. Gazidis is a lawyer and I hope he can see through his manipulative bullshit.

I just don't think you can read much into anything he says, other than it is all self-serving and designed to cover his own arse.

Now that he is giving it large about his contract situation affecting our form (despite insisting time and time again that it wasn't during the last few months), you can bet that it is because he will turn round at some point in the future and tell everybody exactly whose fault it was that he hadn't signed a new deal or made an announcement earlier. Because if he's now saying it was a reason in our downfall, he must have a way of distancing himself from it.

Fucking charlatan.

Wenger was always ok with the media because he could hide behind the fact that we were always in the top 4.
That meant they were never going to be that critical of him - I know that sounds ridiculous to us as fans, but to anyone on the outside that is how it looks.

Although I think we will lose the cup final it wont be by that much - there is still enough quality in the team to prevent that from happening, and they will make the effort because it is a cup final
