He could have walked with some respect left intact, but he clung on like a tiring old despot who contradicted all what he stood for with his lies and deceit, stating I will tell you one day, tbh Mr Wenger no decent supporter is interested in what you have to say, you spun your own web blaming anyone and everyone except yourself...
Wenger was always ok with the media because he could hide behind the fact that we were always in the top 4.
That meant they were never going to be that critical of him - I know that sounds ridiculous to us as fans, but to anyone on the outside that is how it looks.

Although I think we will lose the cup final it wont be by that much - there is still enough quality in the team to prevent that from happening, and they will make the effort because it is a cup final
After the Palace disgrace you couldn't find a supportive media voice if you tried. Last few weeks they have moved their focus to report on Harry Kane, John Terry or whatever that weeks fashionable story is.

If he stays, there will be some questioning but it will be buried in the off-season and by the time August rolls around it will all be about how he has a point to prove. When results start going badly again, they'll get on his back until we pull a few wins out of the bag and they'll find someThing else to talk about.

The reality is that the media take their lead from the fans. They savaged van Gaal because the United fans never took to him, and that was what they wanted to read. The media started to turn on Wenger not so much because they had a collective epiphany, but because there were banners being held up and chants of "you're not fit to wear the shirt". We all know that if he is still here and we have a decent start to the season, is ugoing fans will be placated and the media will follow that. They will never go near "hounding him out" as long as he continues getting such an easy ride from our home fans.

I Noticed and am not surprised the Augie picked it up.

Something gives here, Gazidis has set his stall out and so has Wenger ,we await the judgement of Solomon (stan) .
I think that Kroenke Junior is the reason that things are at this stage because Gazidis wouldn't have gone all in without some backing !

Hate to say it but I think a fudge will be worked out and he stays !

What is this mysterious secret Wenger will allow us to know one day when he deems us worthy of his behind the scenes knowledge ?

Is it 'dark forces' at work again like in 2003 ? Dark forces that just turned out to be Ferguson and Alladyce meeting up and working out that kicking us off the pitch makes us easier to stop? Yeah that was scummy and pathetic but it was hardly satanic rituals being performed.

People used to tell me that one day, when Wenger writes a book, all the sacrifices he's made will come out. All the handicaps he was working under etc. Now I know that if he ever does wrote a book, I wont believe a fucking word it says. It will be some self-pitying cowardly drivel full of lies and half truths, blaming everyone but himself.

I wouldnt wipe my arse with a book written by Wenger. Especially if I was given a hardback copy

Rob, mate...I wish I could believe that. 3-1...maybe even 4? I see a truly terrible afternoon ahead. Chelsea, as much as I hate them, are a good side. Solid at the back & very dangerous going forward. The tought of Mertersacker at the back against Costa & Hazard

Unfortunately we live in a society that counts trophies as success and is too judgemental about that. Trophies are not the only success. 20 years we qualify for champions league - that is success.

What is important is that we have developed these players and going into next season it is important that we keep the group focused.

Nobody can question my commitment or my love for the club. Look, if I ever leave, which I won't. I will always know I built this club.

My players gave absolutely everything. They are upset, yes, but we must look now to next season.

In my career I have made success and trophies with my players. Look, you cannot question my commitment to these players.

Always in England you question the manager. The manager should not be questioned if the long season and financial doping ruin the manager's plan. 30 years in foootball have proven this.

And I must say as well that look at the young players I have brought through. Look how they have gone on to win the champions league with other teams. If you ask me do Arsenal buy players or make players I say we make them.

Look errrr the fans are entitled to be not happy. But special circumstances have put the handbrake on this season for us.

We need to remain focused and that is the important thing going into next season and we have to accept that!

Van Gaal was undermined and hounded out by the media not because the fans wanted him out but because the idea of Mourinho going to United was always a bigger story. It became an open secret that Mourinho and his advisors had been negotiating with United and the media made sure it came to fruition by even finding out about his sacking before he did.

At this moment in time the idea of Wenger staying is a bigger story for the media because of the fan protests and the fact the club does not appear to be actively negotiating for a new manager. Any links with another manager have died in their tracks before they became a big story. Wenger is seen as the elder statement post Fergie and they will never hound him out even if he signed a new contract and failed miserably.

  "Listen, I have done always my best and the players gave everything. "

"Mr Clash....why do you look at me?" Blimey, remember that press conference, the "why do you look at me" one? That was possibly the most cringeworthy of the lot and there's a lot of competition for that accolade. I'll simply never know how he gets away with it and also, with his fake image intact. The supposedly erudite, humorous and charming man, whose mask slips to reveal the nasty, spiteful, narcissist lurking behind it. Yet, other than a relatively few of us, no one picks up on it.

Amazing man really.....detest him as I do and with no shred of respect for him, I somehow admire his ability to come out with inane, made up, nonsensical bollocks and complete lies and spin and constantly get away with. In fact, to actually convince a huge number of people that he's truthful and making perfect sense !!

Blimey almost a grilling at the end of the press conference. Shame it's about 5 years late

I would love to know how any Gooner watching the end of that clip and the way he just kind of says "pffffft" when the fans are mentioned, can still be supportive of him.

As i've said before ive got a chat group of gooners who i've met once or twice who are all AKB's bar 1 (season tickets holders as well) and yesterday when he came out with all that guff at the press conference and I highlighted it to them, I had a text back saying "well hes got a point hasn't he? we really should be better at getting behind the team at home games"

Funny enough the group go silent when I ask "ok then lets say he signs on..... how many more seasons are you willing to put up with before you will understand the need to hound him out?"

We really are unique in the sense of what the club has done to our fanbase. Unlike any other club in the world
