Official World Cup Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

France has greatly disappointed me so far, but my second country Holland are playing tomorrow. I'm can't believe one second that Holland will be as boring to watch as pretty much every single game I've watched so far (I've watched every single game except Germany tonight.)

I just wish with all my soul that in the next month and on, RVP will finally show the whole world how class he really is. Basically I just wish that RVP can stay fit from now on...

Well can't say I expected Australia to win but that was pretty poor.

Almost feel as if we went out there with all intentions of losing or drawing though. Kewell, Bresciano and Kennedy (three of our most potent attackers) didn't feature. In fact, Kewell and Bresciano didn't even bother go out on the pitch to warm up before the match... :?

Couldn't have expected any points from Germany, but wins over Serbia and Ghana and second place is still for the taking.

Its a big blow to lose Cahill though, that was a ridiculous decision.

Australia for the first 2 minutes certainly looked like they meant business.
But after that...

The defense just couldn't cope. Once that first goal went in the game was over.

I think if they'd been able to keep a clean sheet until half time it might have been a bit different.

Keep an eye out for Van der Wiel

Image

22yr old Holland Right back, plays for Ajax and has been linked with us since last summer.
From what I know he is better going forward and can score.
"Of course it's nice to read that Arsenal are interested," he said.

"I consider myself a good fit for the Premier League.

"Robin van Persie has told me many stories about the Premier League, Arsenal and Mr (Arsene) Wenger. Maybe he can put in a good word for me."

Van der Wiel also claims to have been made aware of interest from Spain, with the Primera Liga's big two ready to slug it out for his signature.

The Holland international added: "I know that Barcelona and Real (Madrid) are interested, but now I am only thinking about doing well at the World Cup in South Africa."

Looks like Bendtner will miss out for Denmark today..

In the press yesterday, the Denmark physio was blaming Arsenal if he doesnt make it..

I read somewhere that vuvuzelas were banned when the Netherlands were playing, can anyone confirm?

I currently have 532 points after three days, but looking forward to scoring some on-field points today (especially Holland v Denmark).
