SOUTHAMPTON HOME THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I don't rate Gordon that highly and wouldn't bring him in with a view to being number 1, but he is much better than Fabianski or Mannone. If you asked 60,000 people in the stadium whether or not they thought Fabianski was good enough to be fighting for Arsenal's number 1 jersey, you would struggle for an affirmative response in the triple figures, so why the fuck can't Wenger see that?

Augie is right, having a healthy squad is all about competition, to keep the players on their toes and to provide cover for injuries. I think Szczesny is good enough to be Arsenal's keeper for years to come if he gets his head down, but he's completely lost his focus. After doing a great job since coming in, he was poor second half of last season and looks like continuing that Saturday, but with the lack of effective competition he knows he's still going to be starting the next week. I'm more excited for this season than I've been in a long time and we have a more balanced team with more quality than in previous years, but at the end of the day we ain't gonna win anything when we have Mannone, Santos, Ramsey and Arshavin on the bench when United had De Gea, Cleverley, Valencia and Kagawa as unused subs.

Augie, I think it was a mickey-take (by the way, how appropriate is that term considering their reputation for thieving? :rubchin:  ) of herd's persona for being a former 'fist-flinging hard-man' .

Correct :D

By the way, where was this 'mixed response' for Theo that I read about in the press yesterday and again today

Where I was sitting it was nothing but orgasmic style pant-wetting and rapturous applause for young Gump when he came on. Unless the press could specifically here what I was saying :D

Like how we apparently widely booed him first half against Spurs last year. There was of course frustration with him giving the ball away every time he got it but to say there was widespread booing every time he got it was (in my view) stretching artistic licence beyond the realms of reality.

I see the troll hasn't been fed over the weekend. Or he's got worms. Either way, he's a hungry fucker today.

I think northbank123 has come up with a new and exciting advertising slogan to entice graduates and any others that might be considering entering the profession...

Journalism - stretching artistic licence beyond the realms of reality.

I boo'd him when he came on and also called him a greedy *word censored* several times whilst he was warming up, however, I was a lone (shouty) voice... we're far too nice over there, always have and always will be... :banghead: :banghead:

Why? He's in contract negotiations. He hasn't issued a statement of bollocks or negotiated with another club.

There was a hint of booing for Walcott where I was sitting but the 'real fans' helpfully turned it into a sustained Theoooo to cover it

Because he's a useless, greedy *word censored*! Isn't that enough?
