The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD

Post by Kvltman »

Wenger, May 8th....'In my experience, in a World Cup year, the transfer business does not get done early,' he said.

'Everybody is focused on the World Cup. At the moment you can do nothing because the season is not over.

'Do you realise it is one month from the start of the World Cup? It is unbelievable. The Champions League final is on the 24th May and basically two weeks later it is the start of the World Cup.

'There is no time between the end of the season and the start of the World Cup. Nobody will do anything before the World Cup starts.'

In his experience...apart from when he signed Rosicky pre World Cup 2006!

One month? That is nothing when he has scouts scouring the globe day and night!

Nobody will do anything before the World Cup starts? Nothing may be announced officially but I would have thought plenty of teams will be looking to agree terms etc to avoid inflated prices.

After the World Cup I would assume he will take a well deserved holiday, and by then it is well into pre-season training. Might as well wait until there is value in the market on August 31st by then! :barscarf:

the man is an arrogant dinosaur who hasn't woken up to the modern state of football. with any luck our board will force his hand again this summer, don't care what some people say ozil will end up being a good signing for us.

As much as I dread this happening, I keep thinking how The French Folly brought in that other mancscum reject LightBulbHead - so this IS going to happen, I just know it...

If it does that's me done till wenger's gone. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

WTF is this, people getting worked up over imaginary events now? I can guarantee you Ferdinand won't be within a mile from the Grove this summer.
You're saying that whilst Le French Folly is still in charge!?

And it was only last summer that he guaranteed us that higuain was coming
You up for a cheeky bet then? £100 says Ferdinand ISN'T coming. 8)

Arsenal have opened preliminary talks with Toulouse over a £7 million move for defender Serge Aurier

This so obviously will be Sagna's replacement. French based right back, cheap, young. Right up Clueless' street. He won't resist.

Fuck off! (nicely!) I don't waste money on gambling EVER...However IF he doesn't come then I will happily do my happy dance.   and buy you a pint at a home game....If he DOES come - which I hope doesn't happen - then you can give a £100... to a charity of my choice. :D

Same old, same old. Can't stand the crap that Wenger comes out with, and then gets continously proved wrong. Of course he won't get any transfer work done during the World Cup, he's too busy with his pundit work to take a couple of hours out and sign players... and why does it have to just come down to him!? GAR! It pisses me off, but it's just constant repitition.

Two words: Mesut Özil.
Two more words......the board

Wonga never wanted Ozil but was told to buy him as ST sales and more importantly, corporate sales, were looking very dodgy. This is why Wonga hasn't signed his contract, it's his 'protest' at interference from the board. He hates being told what to do and he's put the frighteners on Kranky to say 'don't let them interfere again'.
You will not see another huge signing because Arsole Wonga does not sign superstars, he makes them! You don't need to work in football for 30 years to know his ego knows no bounds!!
