The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If Mourinho poaches Khedira from under Wenker's nose it will make the his decision to allow Fabregas to go to the Chavs an even more foolish one.

If khedira signed for the chavs cos we wouldn't match his wage demands then I would be ok with that - if however we were offering the same wages as the chavs, then it would piss me off if he signed for them. Cant help feeling that the agent is throwing a hook out in the hope that he can entice other clubs into buying him - his comments refuting any discussions with us seems to me to be knocking us back.
I will say again that I wouldn't buy him anyway if it was up to me

The players agent and our club denies any knowledge of a move, yet as stated already papers Marca included are all saying it's a done deal. :?

So in other words the agent has decided his cut isn't big enough so he's trying to open up the floor to other offers. While I don't doubt that this one could go on for a while until a deal can be struck with the player, I find it hard to believe that no one has made contact with Real Madrid, unless they've decided they want more money now

My only concern would be his injuries, other than that he is quality and that can only benefit any team, it would also strengthen the German world cup winning nucleus of the side, similar to when we had a successful French core to the squad.
I know there are other areas that need sorting, but this doesn't seem likely to happen.

So you think that he is defensively strong enough and disciplined enough, to be our final midfield signing ? There was some talk about us buying khedira AND bender but that is never gonna happen imo

My impression is that, as a club, when we are doing the buying, we like negotiations to be quite snappy and don't like being dragged along playing silly buggers by agents and players, and selling clubs hanging out for higher fees.

And with that in mind, I'd hazard a guess that the Khedira deal is already dead in the water as far as we are concerned.

Also wenger likes all negotiations etc to be kept quiet - when he was buying the greedywhore - he told him to keep schtumm or (if greedywhore told anyone) the deal would be off.

I get the feeling that if the Khedira deal was ever on, it is now dead in the water, if wenger wasn't such a despot - and actually delegated all the strands of the work relating to transfers (buying and selling) things might move a little sharper - but because hi insists on being hands on 100% of the time - everything drags along - It is well known he cannot multi-task...has anyone ever watched him try and make a substitution whilst also trying to do up the zip on his sleeping bag coat?

FFS! :banghead:

KHEDIRA IS NOT COMING .

My Impression is the Total Opposite mate - for the above stated reasons. :?

You ain't the only one mate - That's what love and hope for a football club does to an individual...

I wonder what Roger the Gooner thinks.... :rubchin: :rubchin:

Just so he doesn't fucking write a song about it!

I still have the scars on my arm from self harming after hearing "Highbury Highs". :x

yes, I remember ..now THAT was embarrassing - I remember every just looking at their shoes in embarrassment whilst that was being played/sung....a pity that such a dire shyte song should mark the end of what for us Gooners was a Sad SAD Day in our lives.... I'm sure a few of us on here could have come up with something far more fitting between us....

Rumours suggesting that khedira considering a u turn and staying at Madrid

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/sami-kh ... 11511.html

The comments from his agent seemed a bit suspicious to me - he def seemed to be holding the door open for Madrid by saying that he hasn't decided to leave which is usually agent talk for "give us more money and he will stay"
The thing that stands out most to me is that khedira is currently on £50k per week.......he's now looking to get £150k per week ??  Even in wenker's crazy wages world a player couldn't get a 200% wage increase could they ?

Am I the only one who thinks that maybe Khedira isn't as wonderful as everyone seems to believe? I know he got MoM v Brazil, but I don't recall him being pivotal to Madrid's successes last season. He is obviously a very good player, but is he ''stand-out 'good?, which surely he must be, if record wages are needed to secure him. I think there may be a danger that he is a 'name' and that's what everyone want to see. Just a thought, but how much would Joey Barton cost? He might be a complete prat, but he's a very decent player in that sort of position. And he is used to the physical side of the Prem, which some continental players take a while to get used to....
