Does anyony think these couple of, lets face it, underwhelming signings have been prioritised/pushed through because of the negative media attention surrounding the chanting at Leicester......?

I asked cause there are quite a few members on here who keep insisting that the fans and their protests have zero impact on what Wenger does.....

Just the 'fact' that so many were openly Booing at the end of the scouser game - and then the media AND Cwossy turned on him...I think hr knew - "I'd better do sumfing aboot ziss or zey may take away my £8.3million a year..."

Wenger has always pressed all our buttons - But he knew - in the same way when he signed Arteta etc in THAT Trolley Dash - he had better act quickly...Funny how the Mustafi deal was dead in the water and suddenly 3 - 4 loss at home at least a third to half the Bowl Booing him - and it is all back on again.

What I now think to myself when ever I read anything or listen to anything that Wenger spouts - is "Remember This Man is a LIAR".

Can't believe that anybody wouldn't have seen these panic buys coming

He had effectively already acknowledged that we need a striker with the Vardy farce. He couldn't go another year with next to no signings so the obvious answer is panic buy a relative nobody (for a significant sum) - if it comes off everybody will have to acknowledge him as having unearthed a gem of course.

No point signing somebody like Higuain in 2014 because everybody knows he would probably score 25-30 PL goals every season - far better to spend 15-20m on another journeyman who isn't good enough to lead the line in a title-winning side.

Never heard of this Lucas Perez fella so have no idea what to expect from him in an Arsenal shirt but the bloke needs support and a fair crack of the whip.

Mustafi, I've only seen for Germany and I don't really remember anything in particular about him.

I just hope these players actually perform in an Arsenal shirt.

Wenger actually said: “Look at my face, do I look like I panic buy?” when questioned in his presser, without any irony whatsoever.

Poor chap must be losing his marbles, as he seems to have forgotten his infamous ‘Trolley Dash’ around the time of our “irrelevant” (see Red Member’s posts for background) 8-2 defeat.

The signings also take a bit of the heat, off of the Watford game.
If we manage to lose there, a lot of people that were turning on him after the Leicester game may give him yet another chance, as has made the required signings. Obviously ignoring the fact they should have been made weeks ago, and that they may not be up to the required standard.

Not sure I agree with that.

Whilst I don't want to see Perez given an unfairly rough ride by our fans at all, I also don't think that his signing will have placated the disillusioned fans who were chanting etc, certainly not if we fall 8 points off the pace before we reach September.

It's certainly not placated me at all.

Watching Scum losing 0 - 1 to L'pool at half time - Whatever Mane cost L'pool is worth it. Just imagine him playing in Feo's place. We should have got him !!. :barscarf: :barscarf:

Not us bundles of fun on here....I was thinking more of the flip-floppers and those starting to waiver on their (unbelievable) support of him.
The crowd reaction will be interesting to see if we lose today.

I only seen the second half but matip looks a real quality centre back - strong, fast, and likes a tackle ..........in other words he looks like the type of player we need (although again I say that this is only a provisional assessment and he could end up being a dud)

That pretty much sums it up for me too.
I hope both players do well for us but won't be surprised if they're simply more drains on our wage bill.

Wenger confirms Perez and Mustafai have completed their medicals ,and should be announced officially at the beginning of the week.

It's a fucking joke that TOF always leaves it this late :banghead:

I'd also be in favour of the summer window only being open for the month of July in order to avoid this very situation.

It has been said that the club were pushed into the Ozil signing after the opening day defeat to Villa. The board signed Welbeck under similar circumstances the following year.

I agree with both of you. I hope they work out, but we know a fair number of our signings turn out to be duds, with TOF's obsession with signing two-bob players and youths.

What a crap window :censored:
