ManShitty can afford to pay Bridge £90k to play for Brighton and Kolarov probably as much to be a sub
obviously they believe FFP can be ignored, personally I think that model could breakdown on unhappy nonplaying footballers as much as the insano world wagebill higher than turnover

Individually I don't think we have bad defenders. Szczesny is a good commanding goalkeeper, Sagna is the best RB around for me, Koscielny has started reading the game exceptionally well and has all the attributes to be a top centre half, think last year was a breakthrough season, Vermaelen has great ability and hopefully if he stays fit for a whole season will significantly reduce the number of rash mistakes he makes, although I think Santos and Gibbs are both liabilities at left-back.

There's more about defensive performance than individual ability. Where we fall down is tactics and team focus, as well as the lack of quality DM. Look at United's defence last season: Ferdinand is miles past his best, Evans is a donkey, Evra had a poor season by his standards last year and Rafael and Jones are both complete defensive liabilities, not to mention de Gea shipping in poor goals every few games. Out of those 5 Evra is probably the only one I would rather have solely based on individual ability, and although we did have a lot of injuries last year which would have accounted for a small difference we still shipped in 16 more goals than them in the league.

we shipped 12 goals in 2 away games early on that makes a huge difference to the stats
I think those two losses were aberrations
we also had a player sent off seemingly every week at the start (+Song retrospective 3match ban)
then that horrible winter run of every fullback dropping

ManUre lost their best defender and responded far better than us
but they didnt have the same wide array of issues
