Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
So we bid 1 whole pound more than the believed release clause trigger, which turns out not to be the correct amount to trigger clause after all. Only at modern day Arsenal. Although 40m is a fair amount for this fella if you ask me.
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
A penny above 40m is enough to activate the release clause (they don't have to sale apparently, only inform the player of the bid). We might be foolish in the transfer market, but we're not incompetent.Leyton Gooner wrote:So we bid 1 whole pound more than the believed release clause trigger, which turns out not to be the correct amount to trigger clause after all. basically just shows intent to suarez that we're serious, he can now try and force the move if he so wishes to join us.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
I struggle to understand how we can be bidding for this player if we are also telling Rooney that AW wants to build his new team around him? Sounds incredibly fickle to me! It's like we're telling each player they are the most important thing to us and not expecting the other one to hear about it.
If I was either of them I would say bollocks to joining us as we clearly don't know what direction we want to go in!
Also, all this shite about Fabregas to Manure. Don't we have the right to first option on a buy back agreement from the original sale to Barca? If that's the case then how can he sign for Manure without our agreement?

I think the 1 pound in the 40 million plus bid was using Nicholas Bendtner as a makeweight

We don't have to agree to it as such, we have to make a minimum bid of the fee we agreed in the clause when we sold him. If we don't make that minimum bid, or Cesc says he doesn't want to sign for us, then we don't get him. I'm not sure where this clause stands if Cesc doesn't want to come back to Arsenal? It's not legal for a club to put a clause in a contract that allows him to go to just one club - it's a restriction of trade, so I guess if Cesc chose to go to Man U there's not much Arsenal can do about it.Also, all this shite about Fabregas to Manure. Very interesting article in the Daily Mail starting that if Cesc does go to United then Wenger must resign. I dont have a link but it states all of his broken promises and the fact that Arsenal are far too big to be a team that is a buffer club for Man Utd. After reading it I thought yeah you are right.
Another point is this is our first window where none of our stars are wanted by anyone else. Guess that means we lost our best players over the last 4 or 5 years.
Wow Wenger has talked alot of bollocks and kept his job.

So John W Henry has asked what we're smoking after that bid. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy slating our club as much as the next fella on here but that right doesn't extend to pricks like this
I can fully understand why they turned down the deal but does the bloke seriously expect to recoup substantially more than £40m from anybody for him? He's desperate to go and his silence is a complete embarrassment and no fucking way am I being laughed at by a bloke who continues to spunk his money away on woeful players while they try and hang onto Everton's coat-tails.

Wenger's confirmed that we've a clause in place for Cesc.TeeCee wrote:We don't have to agree to it as such, we have to make a minimum bid of the fee we agreed in the clause when we sold him. I wonder what he was smoking when he agreed to sanction a £35m deal for Andy fucking Carroll.northbank123 wrote:So John W Henry has asked what we're smoking after that bid. I don't think it's that, we have a few that would still be snapped up by other clubs, it's just that Wanger and Gazidis have obviously sat down and discussed what they can do to raise money coming in without selling our best players, and get caned by fans and media alike. They know full well they can't go on selling our biggest players, it's not feasible. Hence they came up with the equivalent of a stealth tax!! Sell/Loan or let go several players removing millions off of the wage bill per year, and don't sign anyone else. The club are 'millions' better off, it looks like we are keeping our best players and they make a few noises to the press about making bids for big players they know will not be enough or be accepted, so they can say 'we tried' at the end of the transfer window. It's devious, it's lack of ambition and it's got Wanger's touch all over it.
Wanger always has an agenda, he said the club has to make 20m profit every season.....not just last season or the one before, he said 'every season'. He has always signed players late thinking he can get bargains, he always generally buys cheap and hopes to make them better players so he can sell for large profits. The one year it changed was when he bought Poldi etc early on.....and he only did that because he knew RVP was going so he was going to recoup all the money and more. Wanger is a very clever economist, he has a huge interest in finances and appears to get as much pleasure from making the club money as he does winning games. No-one can be bigger than Wanger the dictator and that is why he will NOT buy any superstar players.
Players gone and approx. wages per week
Denilson - 50k
Arshavin - 70
Squillaci - 50
Mannone - 30
Santos - 50
That's 13m saved a year and we got paid 2m for Mannone so 15m in all. Take into account all the wages of the kids we've let go and the possible sale of the worlds greatest striker - Barry Bender, and we'll make the 20m that Wanger says he needs to make every year.
