Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I really think the only way he is leaving is in a box, seriously. The only way that crowd of halfwits running the club will change him is if he walks (not happening ) or if ill health/death forces them to.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Yep. Unless Kroenke sells to an ambitious owner or Wenger gets hit by a double decker bus crossing Holloway Road, we are stuck in a rut.greengooner wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2017 11:52 amI really think the only way he is leaving is in a box, seriously. he'll never sell and I haven't got the time to get a HGV licence and a job with London bus, so we're screwed thenGeneral wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2017 12:18 pmYep. Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I think we only have 4 players other clubs would bend over backwards for - Sanchez, Bellerin, Kosicleny, Lacazette. Sanchez wont even command a fee, and Kosicleny is the wrong side of 30. Bellerin & Lacazette are the only players we could sell in this transfer market for 40m+. And Lazacette hardly counts given he is a recent 50m purchase.
If we had a clean out, we wouldnt get much. All these players like Ramsey, Walcott, Giroud, Mertesacker, Coquelin - they will leave only when thier contracts expire. Its a bit like the current WIlshere situation - we cant sell because we dont want to accept pittance, but then no club is willing to pay a hefty transfer fee and play them the wages we pay. If we tried to sell Walcott, it would be to West Ham or Everton - but they wont pay him 110k a week. Its just like Almunia, Denilson, Squillaci, Bentner all over again - they see thier contracts out as we cant move them on.
So many of our current players will stay until their contracts expire - which reverts back the point of how we can no longer raise funds from player sales because Ozil and Sanchez no longer command a fee, and we have no one else other than LK, HB, and AL to sell to raise serious cash. We cant sell Ramsey, Feo, Perez, Coquelin - we could only loan them out and subsidize art of their wages JUST LIKE we did with Almunia, Bendtner and Denilson.
The whole wage structure is build on rocky foundations. Its going to be like the collapse of Enron, or Bernie Madoff's ponzi scheme - eventually there will be a reckoning because in the long run, it is not sustainable and you can only kick the can down the road. However, Wenger is running out of road. The reckoning will be an inability to sell players and move players of the wage bill, the inability to raise funds via player sales which is a part of the business plan, and this will contribute to the malaise as no change in playing personnel will occur which will compound the poor results.
The Wenger fan boys keep saying its not as bad as you think. And I agree.......its worse. It can get worse, and it will get worse. The deep effects of our flawed wage structure have been an open secret for years. However, the consequences are not here yet - but they are inevitable.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
There are weaknesses in the squad all over the pitch, compounded by structural weaknesses in the system and we are going to witness more collapses than ever. Cech, Monreal, Ramsey,Xhaka and Welbeck won't make it into any top 6 side. It's going to get ugly and the fraud will pretend like he didn't see it coming when we lurch from one disaster to the other. Remember he repeated one of his ridiculous claims last season in his attempts to secure a new contract when he said they'll win the title within 2years if they stay together.
With the board effectively being rendered redundant by Wonga's new deal, it has to get bad enough to catch Kroenke's attention and force him to act. A 6-7 game losing streak and we could finally see the back of this turd.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
This is just wishful thinking. As per usual when we go on a bad run of form, the knives come out, but as soon as we grab a win, the flip floppers turn around and defend Wenger. Last season it finally looked like the fans would turn, when we summered humiliations like the away games at West Brom and Palace, but once we fell over the line against a really shit Boro team, most people seemed happy again. The biggest problem at the club are fans who change their opinions game to game - I don't like naming names, but the likes of that Memz guy, and Tom Canton are examples of two pricks, who love nothing better than fence sitting, with these types of fans, there is never going to be a chance of real change.General wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2017 8:23 amThere are weaknesses in the squad all over the pitch, compounded by structural weaknesses in the system and we are going to witness more collapses than ever. Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I think a long losing streak could spell the end and this squad has it in them. We've always had the odd fortuitous win to arrest a losing run and even last season, wins against Sutton and Lincoln were passed off as bouncing backBFG4 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2017 9:22 amThis is just wishful thinking. A lot of people argued last season that he's made a pact with the devil and we would make 4th. Some of us saw otherwise because you could see we were in new territory. In the end it was close but it was only because bin dippers tried their best to let us back in and half of the teams we played were on holiday. Don't forget we had a decent run up to Christmas last season.
The disaster is unfolding a lot earlier this time and we don't have a buffer of points to rely on like last season. Two key players in the last year of their contract, squad looks imbalanced and fans in open revolt. To top it off, we are not just failing to create chances we are shipping goals for fun. The fraud is tempting fate and it's going to get ugly. Wonga is like a politician and is totally oblivious to the extent of the anger amongst the fans. I think they genuinely believe the 2year contract would quiten down the fans.
There isn't a worse flippflopper than Memz and sadly these guys are influential because they have a lot of followers.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
This is a perfect summing up of the situation. This should be pinned so when people say we should have banners inside the ground and boycott games, they can be pointed to this. It is exactly like this.BFG4 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2017 9:22 am
