It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.
Watched Gallipoli again (5th time at least) last night. Awesomely well made and acted film. Yes there are a couple of historical inacuracies and it does (shamefully) play down the British soldiers' role in the landings and subsequent slaughter at the hands of the Turks, but I'll allow it those couple of slips. A classic film. Made back in the days before Mel Gibson became a Hollywood action hero with a penchant for drunken hatred of Jews.
The last scene is probably the only one that has ever actually made me brim up with tears.
Growing up in Australia and going to a school with military cadets I had a the honour and good fortune to meet some of the ANZAC veterans as a young cadet back in the late 70's and they were just quality blokes. Heroes every one of them. They told us some incredible stories about the Great War.
Sad to think that every single one of those aged but still fearsome warriors I met is now dead.
It was to cold last night to go out so we had a marathon film night at home.
We watched,
The Hurt Locker.
I found it A bit monotous and the main character an annoying c**t.
Whiteout.
A murder thriller which takes place in a cold isolated hellhole (sounds like Shitehart lane).I really enjoyed it even if i did guess the ending halfway through.
The Time Travellers wife.
One for the women, but my feminine side took over and i was totally engrossed in it. I would strongly reccomend it
Just in case anyone's interested, saw 'The Road' on Friday.
Stone the Crows ! I've seen some downbeat films in my time but this takes the biscuit. It makes 'One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich' seem like 'The Sound of Music'.
The production values are superb and Vigo Mortenson does everything possible with the lead but if you need cheering up this ain't it.

I watched it tonight, mate!
Me and my friends liked it, but it's certainly a bleak, drepressing movie that really isn't for everyone (In fact, LOADS of people walked out within the first 30mins )
I wouldn't dare recommend it to anyone, but I enjoyed it
so its not a film to be getting all romantic on the couch on sunday nite with the wife so
It might actually be THE best romantic film ever, as your wife will probably find it so bleak and depressing that she'll want to shag your brains out to bring a bit of joy back into her life!

Or to prove to her that there is something more depressing than that film!!!
I watched it last night and haven't laughed as much in ages. I nearly parted company with my spleen when the blonde porn star dropped a load on the cameraman. Hilarious.
