As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Sports media in Holland reporting that Ajax have agreed on a fee with Arsenal and talks are in an advanced stage about him going to Arsenal.
From a gooner friend of a gooner/ajax friend who lives in Holland!!!(he told me about the TV5 deal a day before it was announced of course he wasn't TV5 then just plain TV)

Does that mean that you dont think we will sign that m'vila guy then ?
HAHA! Augie
There is no way on earth Wenger will spend 20mil on a player that will compete directly with Song.
7mil for a good cb that will be regarded as a bargain, c’mon mate you know how the old man operates.
I am a realist and there is no point talking about players such as M ’Villa Gotze or Hazard as wenger won’t spend that kind of money , nor will he upset his favourite’s.
If it was me I would drop Song,Theo, 4 head and Gibbs from the starting 11!
You see that is more like the mikey of old - have been really disillusioned with the "watered down lets keep wenger" mikey that has been on here lately but that is more like you
Mind you if it was me I would drop song, walnut and the forehead from a boeing 10,000 feet up in the air
I would LOVE crazy jens to be number 2 at Arsenal...Wenger sits back and let's him loose on the fourth official and the oppositions manager...oh! Yussss! real Fireworks....

I would love it Keegan-style if Jens was made No 2. I can already see him shredding opposition Managers. I reckon Clive Allen would think again before approaching Le Boss.
Those were the days, although to be fair we did have one sub.
tbf my point was more about having decent backup(of which we have none) than an 11 man squad, but I know what you mean
I miss the old days
I knew what you meant.
However it is still stunning to look at the 71 double winners. Only about 15 players started and for most of the season it was on a ploughed field with a leather ball and mass murderers like Norman Hunter coming for you.
Jumpers for goalposts, I need a catheter nurse... dribble.........

another guy with friends in high places
Don't worry Mcdowell - you've always got me. And I doubt this guy has been to as many 'high places' as I have!!
injuries or ability? I think the fact he has played with Jack for over a decade is a big advantage
as is the fact he's a Gooner
personally I would rather have ex-youth team players like Djourou and Frimpong as our backups
I agree. Djourou is an excellent back up.
lets just hope we dont have to use him as much as this season.
Such a piece of comic genius....you had to say it twice
Djourou - long standing player, ex youth team as 4th choice is fine for me
If the 5th choice is Squillaci then I would be inclined to agree, but when I think back to the days of when Upson was released as a 4th/5th choice centre back, its another area where the squad is significantly weaker these days. Don't even rate the German donkey - if TV5 and Kos are out, we just look much more shaky in my view
