I am no fan of Giroud but that is a fucking stupid comment.Like saying Diaby is better than Vieira.Sanogo is a French 2nd div player
Bollox. He's better than Giroud and will prove it beyond doubt over the coming weeks. Giroud is fucking shit.
He is a reasonable hard working player who has been played into the "Red Zone" of fatigue just how Cesc and Wilshere were before him.
His loss of form is probably compounded by his off the field activities of late too?
He is also a player who benefits a lot from Ramsey making power runs from deep midfield, or some of Walcott/The Ox/Gnabry/Podolski running wide, because Giroud is as much about holding the ball up and using his strength, then laying it off for another to have a shot, as he is about shooting himself.
Those players are used sometimes, but when we see a line up with more emphasis on (an off-form) Ozil, Cazorla, Arteta etc it has a negative effect on Giroud's impact.
That is his style and I'll wager also his instruction from the boss, and he makes a decent go of it.
But he is not a top top player and probably never will be, though for me he will do as part of our squad and we can hope to bring in a new top level forward as well.

thats funny you should mention Vieira - thats exactly what that wriggle out and pass over reminded me of.
I thought Yaya did really well for 75 then he ran out of fitness.
i think in future years he could do well alongside gnabry, ox and theo. yup, the project is back isn't it ?
and tbh thats what his inclusion felt like tonight, that it wasn't part of a calculated chain of development, more that he was included so wenger could prove a point - no way was he ready, or deserved to be picked ahead of Pod or Gnabry.
i got nothing against the kid - remember when GG signed Dixon and Bould, both second div players from Stoke in div 2 ?
we didn't get the heavy defeat i was expecting, but we did show our limitations too. and you can bet mourinho and pelligrini watched every detail.

He still does mate - plays for my club in the A-League. Can't score for crap but can hold it up for the quick blokes. He has always gotten a bad rap i reckon. Funny thing is he goes to my gym near work and he isn't nearly as big as i thought.
Anyways - Sanogo - i think with a bit of confidence and game time he could be half decent (fire away)
ps wtf re Podolski?!?! i feel sorry for the guy. Great player, great attitude, seems to be great for team morale and can't get a run.

FFS man will you have a word with yourself - the guy is an injury prone crock who has played one and a half games for us and you (and others) are ready to crown him already ? Giroud for all his limitations has scored a few goals for us and yes he is average (in an absolute shit system/formation) but to dismiss him claiming wakemeup is better is absolute bollox
If after 6 months, bambi on ice proves himself to be better than giroud then we can laud him as such but personally I'm not ready to bin 1 average striker and replace him with a guy that hasnt yet proven himself good enough to be called average

Agreed 100% with Don and augie - fucking stupid comments, 1989.
ONE AND A HALF GAMES - and he's better than our top scorer who has proven he can hold up, lay off and score well? Giroud isn't top class and never will be but he has done a very good job as a lone striker (a role he very obviously isn't cut out for). Sanogo has done ok, had a few good touch's but that's about it.

Brilliant
Pretty accurate too, he did put a good shift in again last night, and offers something different to Giroud in terms of his pace and runs down the channels, but he's a long way off being ready for top level football.
My phone is full of texts from people telling me how well he's played in the last 2 games. He's been average at best in both yet people are creaming themselves over him, oh how our standards have fallen.
If being good in the air and able to chest control a long ball are the criteria for leading the line at Arsenal these days then why don't we sign Peter Crouch FFS . The people getting the horn over the French Efan Ekoku, are the same sheep that revel in Wenger's mediocrity

I think the praise is all relative to how shite he looked when he first played for us. Looking back he clearly couldn't have been fit, he couldn't even turn properly when we signed him.
