If i was Wenger for the top away games where we suffered last season and even yesterday for a good 70 mins. I'd play 5 at the back. and pack the midfield. i think coming away from City, Liverpool, Chelsea with a dire 0-0 it's a bloody good result

why try and go toe to toe with these teams and get fucked 5-0. Watching yesterday 's game t seemed for a long period we had'nt learnt fuck all from last season.

The problem is that we try to go more than toe to toe, we consistently get 6 or 7 players ahead of the ball away from home to these teams. Yes, the second goal yesterday was an officiating mind fuck in numerous ways but when Everton cleared the ball only Flamini of our midfield was in any position to defend. Ramsey and Wilshere had both bombed on, imo they need to come to an understanding that if one goes the other sits. Neither Flamini nor Arteta should be left on their own against top quality counter attacking teams.

With the fog of beer gone, the cold truth of last night was Sanchez upfront on his own as a false 9 only works if we press and I mean collectively. It's galling watching us trying the pressing game and not doing it as a team because it leaves stupid gaps like the Coleman goal.

Monreal still has only 1 redeeming feature,he is an excellent crosser of the ball.

Giroud when he is a**ed is a handful for any defender but we need a no 9. If we aren't going to buy one then for the love of God change the formation you stubborn old man.

Yesterday was crying out for a 5-3-2,with Chambers-Bfg-Kos,so Monreal and us aren't too exposed at the back. A midfield of Flamini Rambo and Özil centrally( his best f**king position ) with the pace of Sanchez paired with the physicality of Giroud. Not him up front by himself. This allows us to use our best assets, which is to break from defence to attack using the flanks,Giroud holding up the ball and Sanchez running in behind.

We aren't Barcawhores so stop setting us up like that and stop ignoring what we are good at. The Catalan Chav is not here any more stop making a team around a man that isn't here.

We are going to have to have a very good last week of the transfer window to avoid last season being repeated. We need a LB,Cm,no 9(a good one not sone cheap french knock off), and a Cb.

If we actually had anything remotely resembling ambition to be more than mediocre,that would mean Daley Blind, Carvalho,Falcao(why the f**k not,of all the club's after him we are the ones with the greatest need and FFS it's not like we can't afford him),Manolas.

But what we will get will be no Lb,Tiote(shudders at the thought),Eto'o and Micah Richards.

There are lots of questions to be asked of the first half but I would think that every side save for City (and possibly chelsea, although not convinced about that yet) could not have gotten a point in that scenario.

I don't agree with this, it implies that we had some special perseverance or drive yesterday when the two goals were the end product of the team going through the motions like they had done for the previous 83 minutes. Ramsey's goal was a bit of a miracle given he was the only Arsenal player in the box against 6 defenders and Giroud's goal was just an aimless cross from Monreal. Both could have been prevented if Distin had positioned himself correctly

whereas Evertons goals could have been prevented it Ozil picked up Coleman and the linesman had his glasses on. Its pretty easy to point out the deficiencies after the event.

We forced Everton back and had them camped on their 18 yard box for the last 10 minutes. I thought we showed good character to do that considering we'd had a trip to Turkey in mid week. You could probably go through every goal ever scored and find someone who could have prevented if they'd positioned themselves differently. I have to say this is another fairly embarrassing attempt to deny the team any credit. You can admit we showed good character against Everton without being blind to our other obvious failings in the game, the world isn't black and white.

I don't understand why we're playing Ozil wide left when he's one of the best creative number 10s in world football. Wilshere should be farmed out there, I know those players interchange a lot but Ozil seemed to be marooned. I get the feeling he's the kind of player that wants to know the manager sees him as the main creator.

Our passing looks good in fits and starts but there are a lot of basic errors and misplaced passes which weren't there for most of last season.

Debuchy another solid game, the rest were all fairly average by their own standards but I didn't think Alexis was anywhere near our worst attacking player in the first half although I understand bringing on Giroud.

Good point in the end, plenty of top sides will get less than that at Goodison this year.

Which I guess in some ways is lucky for us that we played them early doors.....Mind you we will also improve greatly as the season unfolds.

An alarming lack of creativity, poor defending, sadly familiar. Everton were professional but not great tbh, they were fairly uninspiring. But the Sky Sports wankathon was cranking up - it doesn't matter how many times they say he 'rolled' him, doesn't make the second goal any less of a foul. Was fucking nice to smash that down their throats by nabbing a point.

Two brilliant assists as well. The sort of spark from Cazorla that it would be nice to see from Ozil, and I'm his biggest critics but fantastic work from Monreal for the second.

I really like this, and not just because playing 3 at the back is so en vogue. But I have not illusions that Wenger would so something like this. Too radical. He needs to prove his point I think.

The same old problem of not turning up in the first half was evident here again, just as it was against palace last week, the cup final in May and countless other games last season.
If this continues (which it will) then we are going to once more get swept aside in 20 mins by the pl top sides.
