city away thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Something else about that Burnley v Liverpool game sticks in my mind.

Bournemouth had been drawn to play away at the winners of the tie. Liverpool were obviously expected to get through so several thousand Bournemouth fans were no doubt preparing their balloons and painted faces for their big trip to Anfield. Ready to bellow out terrace classics such as ''you're supposed to be at home'' and ''we support our local team'' etc.

Anticipating the praise coming their way on TV and radio phone ins for being the real grass roots fans. The lifeblood of the game. What the cup is all about .....

.... but then it was Burnley away and so only about 250 fans went :D

One of mine that made it in - the Time For Change banner was taken by a cop, but in the melle and confusion I thought one of the group had it and left without it.

Three banners made it past the stewards......
Time For Change
Au Revoir Arsene
Judgement in May. Go Now
Would it be worth contacting Manc Police to get the banner back?

This exact photo is now on the Sun website along with reports of the bullyboy tactics. they've had a response from AFC and are awaiting a response from Manc police.
Hopefully the story's got legs.

According to the Sun this banner is now "infamous" :barscarf:

Let me also add that the sun contacting the club is a mirror version of when they question wenger cos they don't ask the proper questions - when told that the club stewards were there to ensure safety of team and officials (or whatever bullshit reason they used), why didn't the sun ask them if they deny that their own stewards confiscated banners ?

While confiscating banners is disgraceful, in this case it might actually do some good if it generates more bad publicity for the tyrannical regime.

I hope this backfires badly for the club. The people running/ruining it need to be exposed for what they've done to it.

It's a known fact tat if a bald/ing person wear a hi-vis vest for long enough - it attracts more sunlight and so the hair roots re-generate and then the hair grows stronger (but only on yer gonads). :D

Two days have passed since the club's gestapo behaviour at the citeeh game on sunday, but I am even beginning to doubt if it ever really happened - I mean the story and photo's are all over twitter and on the sun website, but colour me stunned cos there has been absolutely zero mention of it on arseblog   Was it all just a bad dream ? This is a guy that has his finger on the pulse and has a close affinity with many fans, so surely he would have known about it if it really happened ?
Useless f.ucker whose first priority has been to take the official club position, but yet he expects fans to vote for him for blog of the year - how can he even qualify for that if he isn't running a truly independent blog ? I know when the next appeal for votes goes out, I will change my position from not voting at all, to voting for redcafe or some such shit to stop him winning it

Arseblog has his own agenda as well. He sat on the Sanchez storming off story as he felt that it would hurt Arsenal - he openly admitted it. That being said, he is also on record (in his comments) that he has a very low opinion of the banner guys, so not a surprise that he doesn't say anything about it.

I have to admit, I think that self-censorship is quite a poor thing to do especially if you are calling yourself 'news' which he does. However, if you may upset the gravy train, like reporters also do, then it probably understandable that he is going to censor things which may harm his income. I don't agree with it, but I am here at work and he is home writing/recording and making a living off of the internet.
