Transfer Rumours Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Jesus man, lets watch the geeser play first LOL

Looks tall, strong, quick, good on the ball.. he's a Brazilian international and at £7m looks a steal!

So Frank needs to watch him first before being able to pass comment on what this guy looks like, but you can say he looks like he's xyz and a steal at £7m etc? :?

Bloody hell, maybe there is a clique!

And how do we know this little pearl of wisdom?

The only media coverage I have seen about this was on a dodgy translated Turk paper that looks as reliable as Doujorou!

:?
it's all over the place mate. in brazil it's being said as a done deal by the local media.

We have a squad full of 'squad' players if you know what I mean. We need players who are guaranteed first choice, NOT who might be able to fill in for half a dozen games.
FFS, when will this farce end? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
How the hell is signing a player at his peak who is a Brazilian regular international shopping in Lidl? What left back should he have signed then?
the problem this time is not the calibre of the player mate, it's his style of football. we have now the worst defence in the last couple of decades at arsenal (and after taking 8 up the ass at old trafford i'm sure no one will disagree) and instead of buying players who are intelligent and solid defenders, he buys a fullback who can score goals and make assists, but has very poor positioning sense and can't tackle.

we're buying him because he is cheap and well known, not because of his football.
The defence is poor but it was also a defence that consisted off Traore, Djourou, Koscienly and Jenkinson, keep it in perspective.

You will know about this Santos better than most but throw him in with Vermaelen, Sagna and hopefully someone new then it may be better then having Gibbs there.

According to Gunnerblog he averages a goal every five games in his career  Maybe we're signing him as Bendtner's replacement

It tells you something that this Brazilian is in his 'prime' and he plays in Turkey.
If he was any good at all he'd be in Spain or Italy.

Quite possibly (at least he fucking better be!) but if he's yet another winger-at-heart style full-back then it's fair to assume Wenger's still learnt fuck all about the need for the defence to operate as a unit. Never expected otherwise but you'd find more straight lines on Michael J Fox's etch-a-sketch than you would watching our back 4, and as long as we're persisting with a "game plan" that requires the full-backs to spend most of the time miles upfield, and no quality/experienced DM to cover them, we're always gonna be at 6s & 7s at the back. :(

Eljero Elia has been on Dutch TV tonight admitting he's in talks with Arsenal at the moment.

Dutch footballer playing at HSV, 24 years old, winger, scored on his debut for Netherlands in 2009 and was in the squad for the world cup last year.

i'd be happy with him he is good and looked a talent at the world cup, also won't hurt having a dutch player to play with Robin.
