The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Welcome to Arsenal, Dave Ospina.
Claimed the most crosses in the World Cup. Impressive considering he's only 6 ft tall.

Another day.....another sexual fantasy for our resident ott reactionary
You've been moaning about us cutting costs for a potential DM. It doesn't get much better than Carvalho. He is even big and strong, which is what you want.

And as I said previously, I don't know fcuk all about him - I was only taking the piss at your sexual reaction comment

Btw that type of tackle (the gif in your other post) is EXACTLY what I'm talking about - I would much, much rather buy a defensive midfielder who relishes tackles like that, than to spunk away huge money on khedira who isn't your aggressive tackler type of player
Fuck me Augie, you really do seem to have an issue with Khedira, he is better than anything we have in that position and good defensive midfielders don't need to make those challenges, because like Khedira they are anticipating rather than reacting.

Indeed. Top signing from Wenger. He'll push Szczesny massively and may even take his spot imo.

What position is that sid ? Are you telling me that khedira would come to us and sit in front of the back 4 ? Do you think that he would be as disciplined positionally as arteta has been ? Khedira has made his name as an all action type of midfielder but that is not what we are looking for imo - every fcuking year our fans have bemoaned the lack of physicality in our team and khedira will not correct that problem. I am a big believer in balance - for BFG's intelligence and organisation you need kos's pace, but likewise with ozil, cazorla, ox and ramsey's skills we need a big powerful DM to provide the muscle and allow our flair players to do their thing. Yes a defensive midfielder needs an ability to anticipate danger, but playing in a physical league he needs to be able to win those tackles with physical strength when it is needed too and as much as I like and respect arteta, asking him to do that job was folly on le cock's behalf

If Ospina is going to keep the gobby Pole on the bench then he is most welcome.

Sir Chez was fantastic last season and possibly the player of the season. I cant recall an error he has made and he always inspires me with confidence when it comes to defending corners which is a pleasant change.

FFS, Khedira has said that one of the reasons he wants to join Arsenal is because he doesn't want to defend in the way he was asked to at Madrid. He would not be a sitting DM.

Are we allowed 2 competent goalkeepers? This feels unnatural and wrong, like a gay couple kissing in public.
