As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Mikel Arteta showed me again, exactly what we've missed these past few years i.e. a mature, establishd PL midfielder, calm under pressure, sensible in possession. My Gooner MOM today - thought he was outstanding and hopefully those tongue-in-cheek comparisons to Denilson, made in certain quarters, are banished forever.
What Cesc wasnt an established PL midfielder?
Yes Arteta is calm and sensible. But what he lacks is a killer through ball.He is always looking for the easy option.I want him to look up and play 40 yard passes once in a while.Like dare i say Cesc
Cesc needed a player like Arteta alongside him mate - you know thats what I meant. He is clearly playing in a deeper role than Fabregas and isn't that what Cesc missed for so long i.e. a reliable partner
Thats the fucking problem round here....everyone keeps comparing Arteta to Cesc. Everyone is critical enough of Song for his irresponsibility, and then we sign someone better than him capable of anchoring the team in the way Gilberto once did.....but no its not good enough. He needs to be able keep the team secure from the sort of 8 goal roasting it received before he joined, score 15 goals and have the creative genius of Zidane
When Wilshere comes back, fuck Song off altogether and play Ramsey and Arteta alongside him and watch the improvement.
I thought Tets and Song were both good. My guess would be Rambo is the players that will be replaced by Jack in the big games. Theo has been excellent, especially in big games, but had his first poor game of the season.
I hate sat nav. We somehow pages the M6 toll.but didn't use.it.

Fuck that.
Dump the cunting 4-3-3 or whatever it is supposed to be. Introduce a flexible playing style to handle different in game situations and roberts your fathers brother.
Arteta did play well today. But we do need a game changer who isn't Van Persie. Out of Arteta, Song, Walcott, Gervinho and Ramsey I would expect Arteta to be that guy.
Depends what you want I guess, he can keep on doing the things you highlight and likely do them well. It just won't take us any higher than we currently stand.

Not Arteta's fault of course.
Mate, we're in violent agreement on that point. I've lost count of how many times I've bemoaned the 4-5-1 (because that's what it is) regardless of whether its Barca away or Blackburn at home. It actually fucking winds me up more when we have the 'home bankers' rather than games like today. I think Arteta adds something new to the team and it has had an impact.
As you point out its not his fault that other deficiencies in the team haven't been addressed, or indeed that the GIC sticks with the same formation regardless of whether we're facing Messi or Kevin Davies

5. Alex Thong. I'll say it again: LIABILITY. Braindead retard.
You wouldnt have heard this Baba but during the commentry Martin Tyler said after YaYa had a trial in a game at Barnet Wenger said he was average. This is the manager who thinks Song and Diaby are good enough.Worth every penny of that 7 mil a year
I am one of those (along with Augie) who has wanted Yaya Toure at Arsenal for a while, but I do think he was not as good a player during his time in Ukraine and Greece, and there was talk of visa problems preventing him joining us, though I have no idea how true that is.

I would love to see that happen as much as any Gooner but unfortunately the GIC has made it so that we only have one quality out and out striker to choose from.
The Yaya Toure quote lifted from Arsenalnewsreview.co.uk
Wenger On Yaya Toure
"I have known him since he was 15. We had an agreement with him to come here but the problem was that he was at Beveren and we had to wait long enough for a European passport. Therefore he was impatient and went, at the time, to Metalurh Donetsk.
"It was quite interesting because his generation played for two or three years at Beveren, like Yaya Toure, Eboue, Gervinho, for example played there as well. They didn't have one offer for all of these players and they played in the Belgian championship in the top league.
"All of the players have made big careers, for example, Tiene plays left-back for Paris Saint-Germain. In two years there was not one offer for one player. Basically because they were young, it is always difficult to make these kinds of decisions. At the time he went to Metlurh Dontesk.
"He is a top-class player. We knew that at the time he would be a top-class player. The only problem with Yaya Toure was to fix him into a position because he can play everywhere. He can play centre-back, as a second striker, as a midfielder and for a long time we didn't know where to play him.
"Incidentally, he played in a pre-season game at Barnet as a second striker - he was completely average on the day."
Ramsay is starting to disappoint me, that's his second poor game in a row.
I don't know why but I get the feeling he's on the bottle - misplaced passes and failed fancy flicks remind me of quite a few players that went down that path.
Arteta and Gerv have been good buys in my opinion, but I'm still
mystified why Ox isn't even making the bench.
I'm disappointed we lost, but at least we played pretty well and probably deserved a draw.
He made some great runs into space and kept calling for the ball, yet he kept getting ignored and the ball went to gervinho or backwards. He must be incredibly frustrated.

Often in the first half, Walcott was also waiting in the middle, in a position RvP might be expected to be in.
Many on here have criticised that we have no one in or near the box when the ball is played in from out wide, so at least he tried to rectify that.
But it looked to me as if he had been told to wait there, because it is not his natural game, which is either to run wide, or to cut in from wide when he has the ball.
Still can't believe people are saying they're impressed with Gervinho. He's quick but has no end product and how many chances did he miss at WHL in October I think? You know you're fucked if you're getting compared to Hleb in your first few months.
