As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

When you're stuck in the away corner at Stamford Bridge with 30000 odd mocking and laughing and singing "Have You Won the European Cup", you can all sit there with a nice warm glow inside knowing that you cheered for them in 2012 "because you're 100% English" and it was oh so funny that Spurs missed out on qualifying for the Champions League (as they have done every year bar one for the last half a century anyway)
I'm sure I spotted some of the folk on here on the Sky Sports pictures at the bus parade yesterday
Embarassing doesnt come close to describing it does it steve o ? Maybe easy for me to say that cos I am Irish but I do not know how any self respecting Gooner could support a club where pikey terry and lumpolard are the signiture players Not proper Gooners as far as I am concerned

Augie, I am 100% English mate but there has never been an easier decision for me. I think the people that voted for Chelsea are clearly in the category of people that would rather Ing-er-lund won the World Cup than Arsenal win the CL - the sort of people you talk to in the office that once watched Arsenal in 1986 but think it would be 'great for the country' if England won

Pathetic doesn't even come close to describing it
Seeing Terry with a massive smile lifting that cup made me feel ill on Saturday anyone who wanted them to win cant be a Gooner surely??? I forced myself to watch the lifting of the trophy after they beat Bayern even though i wanted to turn the TV off

Err, but I fink da arg-oo-munt is sumfink like dis. They is one undred pur sent Ing-lish, so faack dem Gurmuns innit.
The 18% have already ordered their new Hackett polo shirts and are getting ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with their Chelsea and West Ham mates outside the Globe on Baker St giving it large to the tourists during the Euros.
People talk about what makes a 'real fan' - well 18% of the voters on here should free up some space in the stadium next season and start drinking on Fulham Broadway next year
In the cold light of day you have to take your hat off to Chelsea for their organsiation, resilience and character. Three things which are rarely found in our current Arsenal squad. The lack of such things is particulary noticable in the games where they are most required.

Its amazing isn't it - don't they realise that when you beat QPR 6-1 at home that you should approach the Barcelona and Bayern games in exactly the same way? After all, isn't that what a Coach of the Decade would do - fuck everyone else, lets try to outpass everyone regardless of the opposition involved.
Di Matteo won't last long making tactical changes like that
And what's all this conceding 20 corners but no goals from them bollocks and having defenders and a line of 3 midfielders remembering what their main responsibility is on the field?
A 43 year old novice like Di Matteo clearly has much to learn from the managerial messiah that is Self Harmer Wenger. I bet Di Matteo has no idea what a property development contract looks like - never mind son, your time will come
You win nothing playing our Sunday League you score 2 we'll score 3 football. You need to be organised as a team and the chavs were. They defend as a team and as lucky as they were in many ways they earned the luck. Barring the left backs individually the defenders in both us and the chavs are similar but they defend so much better as a team

.....and hence the responsibility and credit for that goes to........?
So Di Matteo has shown in 3 months that decent coaching can win what Wenger has worked all his life for and never achieved (and never will achieve, even if he was manager of Barcelona, Man City or Real Madrid)
Tbf I also think that the chavs top players had a big influence in selecting their tactics (dont they always ) but again it highlights the fact that everybody understands the need for a tactical plan except our CIC - I really really wish wenger would fcuk out of our club

Perhaps they did but that also shows they have leaders on the field mate - PV4, TA6, Keown etc, are all players we had that once upon a time would have done the same thing. Fact is we have a manager who, and I quote, says that "leadership is overplayed" and favours rotational captaincy

I think that sums the night up.
it is all very depressing. There is now no way Arsenal can call themselves the biggest club in London again until we also win the CL. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves. With Silent Stan in charge that is unlikely to be anytime soon. Our only chance is with Usmanov and although that would be a leap into the unknown for Arsenal, the alternative is that we accept our place as a little club in London. That I find unacceptable.

This just about sums it up. But what can we really expect when we have Arsenal players stating that they wanted them to win – and then going one better by saying that Terry deserved it. How can any Arsenal player be happy that that lot have made history before us? How can Wilshere not get how the Arsenal fans would feel about this? But unfortunately such statements sum up the modern day Arsenal player. It shows yet again what a load of flakes this current crop are and how out of touch they are with the fans and the history of the Club. Don't bother kissing the badge again Wilshere - just be happy you’re England mates are achieving things that you and your fellow team mates can only dream of. And anyway 3rd place is the real trophy.

Dont get me wrong id prefer Wilshere said nothing about chelsea and Terry winning the European Cup but players dont have the same feelings we do and never have. After we beat sp*rs in the 1993 FA Cup semi final Neil Ruddock was interviewed after the final whistle and said the usual about how gutted he was etc etc but finished it with 'but they are a good bunch of lads and i wish them luck' from a sp*rs player!!!!! . . . See nothing to do with modern day footballers who dont know how we feel and all that bollocks im sure Ruddock used to go for a drink with Merson or Adams and knew them as blokes as opposed to a hated rival.
Im sure this is how Wilshere knows Terry even if we all hate him and im not sure Wilshere deserves stick off of us lot because of it
Sure I didn't want them to win but they did. That doesn't suddenly mean they're a bigger club than us. Are Aston Villa? Notts Forest? Porto? No. Winning the European Cup doesn't suddenly jump you to the top of the que. Takes a lot more than that.
Are we all even that upset? Chelsea have spent millions trying to win this thing. It was always going to happen. Just get behind the Arsenal and hope we can achieve that feeling one day.
now that it has happened, that Chelsea have won I am as disappointed as most other people on here.
however in the long term it might be for the best.
1) Spurs could now disintegrate with their best players leaving - they ARE still our main rivals after all - that is funny
2) Whether Chelsea won or not they would always been able to bounce back with the amount of money they have available to them. It will be harder for Spurs now they are not in the CL.
3) the fact is Chelsea are not Spurs. Imagine if Spurs won the CL!!!
The fact that Chelsea is also in London is disappointing but not as bad as them winning it.
4) Chelsea now have a "history" of about the same level as Aston Villa and they need reminding that next season they might be able to emulate Nottingham Forest
5) the final reason is the great hope that maybe this will motivate our players to actually win something, impress on the manager and the board that they need to invest more in the squad to win something.
