Would rather listen to Sounness as a pundit every day.
Souness a good pundit really? I didn't get back from the game in time to see this "slapping".
TH14 is like one of us, but perhaps a bit more refined in his opinions for the purpose of working on Sky. Most neutral football fans I know think he is a great for the programming as is Gary Neville, who lets face it 10 years ago a lot of gooners thought he was a thick shit.

I too think that souness is the best pundit around and that is not easy for me to say as I used to hate him

Just gone 11am here, you on the sauce already??!!!
Souness was a thug as a player, shit manager and I really don't rate him as a pundit.

Agreed. Spurs were better than us and should have taken all 3 points. The team looked knackered and seemed to have no idea what they were doing. Spurs, on the other hand, looked fitter, sharper and knew what they were doing. Hate to say it but its true.
All comes back to one bloke and his refusal to buy anyone in the summer because there was no one out there better than what he had............................that and the fact he hasn't got a clue about tactics.
Whoa wait a minute guys, cannot blame Coquelin, there midfield was packed he was massively outnumbered
They were picking up everything in the middle, there fore controlling the game
Wenger again neither had the tactical nous to counter balance, or indeed the personnel to do the job
Given everything could have easily lost, important point with City also drawing
Not a case of blaming Coquelin at all. He was chasing shadows, simply because he did not have the support around him in midfield.
Ozil and Cazorla were being bullied all game.

Come off it, Souness was a top player, fantastic midfielder and someone you'd have in your team every week.
His perm and tache made him look like a proper Scouser as well
Think he's a top pundit as well, talks sense and knows his tactics.

Agreed mate, yes he was basically totally up against it, they bossed the midfield
We seemed to have no prepared tactics for this game, or maybe i am missing something

No question Souness was a Quality player, he also has all the Trophies, leagues and European winners medals to go with it
Integral part of an excellent Liverpool side which dominated home and abroad
Bradywasking wrote:The only positive from today is that we didn't lose given the level of performance. Even in the end when we were going for an undeserved win there was no cohesion or joined up thinking. I'm going against the grain here and I'm going to defend(not praise) Joel Campbell. He is very left footed, yet he is stuck wide right. I accept that was through necessity but he twice had a chance to cross with his right foot but had neither the ability or confidence. Playing off a striker at a lower level Campbell could be a useful player. But our ambition should be higher.
Thought Sanchez was poor, when he plays poorly he loses the ball too frequently. Ozil had a few glimpses of class but was on the edge of the game. Thought Debuchy was reasonable but offers little going forward. This was compounded by Campbell's inability to go outside his full back. Monreal had a decent game along with Cech. Overall a game to forget , happy with anything from the performance. Interlull break now..we need a few bodies returning.
Campbell is left footed but playing on the right, cos sanchez is right footed and playing on the left and that is because it is sanchez's position of choice. Both of these decisions lead to us playing a narrow game which is totally unsuitable for giroud - a victims supporting buddy of mine continues to rant against the signing of benteke cos he argues that they don't have wingers that will cross the ball in effectively for him, and I would suggest that it is a very similar situation for us re giroud. If we are to continue to pander to sanchez (and maybe he has earned that special treatment) and allow him to decide which wing he wants, then we sure as hell better have a proper right footed winger on the opposite wing. Personally I would have forced sanchez to play right wing (like he did when gibbs came on) and put Campbell on left and seen then if we would have had some width to our game
Giroud has scored more headers in his time at Arsenal than ANY OTHER pl player AND he missed 2 sitters on his bonce yesterday so someone is getting the ball on his nut
Lefty, giroud may have scored more headers than other premier league strikers, but how many clubs now play with the traditional target man striker anymore ? The centre forwards of the modern era are more mobile than giroud and this is a fact that we all moan about cos ozil cant thread through balls onto an immobile striker.
Reality will tell you that we create far more chances than the rest of the league, and thus it is easier for giroud to have that most headed goals stat - however, if we were to have a winger like marwood supplying him, then I would suggest that he would have more chances that suit his style and would accordingly score more goals

Souness was a great player is a good pundit, but honestly about the worst manager ever, always seemed to spend huge amounts yet never had anything to show for it.
Contra to what Pikey terry thinks it is possible to be a great player and pundit, great player rubbish manager and pundit, and combos of all 3.
Cant honestly think of one thats great at all 3, at the skills are all totally different, thinking with feet/ motor skills , verbal reasoning and powers of motivation and persuasion.
Possibly Jimmy Armfield or Martin O neal, but Neil wasnt a particularly good player, and armfield wasnt a brilliant manager. Incidentally Wrighty is a great pundit as well as player, but just cant see him managing a flea, and as for TH14 I am afraid hes turning into a shite pundit, and please I cant see him being a good manager unlike DB10 the giant.
Henry looks and sounds the part which means that he fits Sky's agenda. But it's just sanitised garbage which comes out of his mouth just like you get out of most of that lot. He will just trot out whatever flavour of the week is.
My issue with him isn't that he is a Wenger apologist - 95% of media personalities are and given Henry's connection to him I can understand it as players from Wenger's successful sides all seem to have difficulty distinguishing their own experience from the current predicament. It is that he is yet another flip flopper and every time you listen to him you'll get a different view. One week it will be praising Wenger to high heaven after we have won and are on a decent run. The next it will be bemoaning that Arsenal declined to strengthen in obvious areas. The next it will be complaining that Vieira was never replaced. Then it will be overall praise and enthusiasm again. He basically just agrees with Every prevailing view put to him. Jamie Redknapp is the same and despite being better than the others so is Gary Neville without a shadow of a doubt - he is terrible for it.
On the other hand whilst being far from faultless Sounness at least has perspective and a consistent view. He will frankly criticise exactly what is wrong with us but also give credit where it is due for what we do well. He regularly points out after a great performance that we won't do it often enough or when it counts to win the big trophies, and after a terrible result will offer perspective and point out that we will still do enough to finish top 4 etc. Plus I also get the sense that he would actually quite like to see us do well. And he speaks with passion unlike some of the other drones there.
ive had no tinternet since Saturday so haven't read any of the comments about the game but my take on it was firstly we were still blowing out of our arses after the Bayern game that can be the only reason were being bossed in midfield, cazorla went off feeling ill so Coq was doing the job of 2 men in the first half, secondly as much as weve all moaned about Giroud you have to say the bloke works his arse off and is being run into the ground by wenker, ive been one of his biggest critics but hes won me over, hes doing a really tough job up top on his own,he doesn't have the quality but then again only a worldy could perform that loan striker role, thirdly to grab a goal like we did when we were our backsides for me shows a lot of character,in recent season spuds would have gone on and battered us but we showed great resolve to get a vital point and my last point is how embarrassing that our squad yet again is on the bones of its arse, can you imagine any other top team having to bring on defensive players to try and turn a game around because of so many injuries to attacking options, how Arteta is still an arsenal player is a piss take, and gibbs on the wing,WTF,cant believe it worked though and he got the goal.lets hope some of our injured our back after the break because the title is there for the taking and a fit squad could do it,but then again this is Wenker we are talking about so aint gonna happen is it

Le Coq was up against it especially in the first half. Something was wrong with Santi for sure, I saw a close up of him whilst waiting for a beer at half time in the ground and he looked as white as a sheet.
Giroud is such a fustrating player, he leads the line well but his lack of pace and inability to convert enough chances in front of goal will cost us over a season I suspect. Ozil on the other hand has shone for the last two months, he's finally knuckled down and we need to keep him fit as much as the likes of Sanchez, who I fear is heading for a nasty injury with the demands that are being made on him.
All in all, I am happy to take the result just worried that our squad is being tested to the limit and it's only November.
Giroud hasn't played many minutes this season compared to most strikers (harry kane has played a lot more but doesn't look knackered) so I don't see where he is being run into the ground and as for the first half against them he was nowhere to be found.
Anyhow we got a point which I didn't expect after the first 20 mins so was happy enough.
