As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but it sounds like Robin_L is turning to the dark side. He's less inclined to take the piss out of the WOBs and seems to be confronting the soul-crushing reality of today's Arsene Football Corporation

Can all those that slagged off Campbell come on here for a public flogging . I question any football fan that doesn't rate a player who has excelled in the world cup. The quality was always there.
Sorry mate but his ONE World Cup goal does not elevate him to some sort of special treatment.
He has been consistently turd and had a great game (I hear) against a side who he is familiar with and are probably more about his level. He pilfered an unremarkable 8 goals on loan in Greece to add to his paltry 7 in 80 games from his other loan spells - he is just another one of Wengers failed experiments.
WTF! Did you actually watch the world cup. He was more than a goalscorer he was pissing on pretty much every teams defence that he came up against!
If you want to look at stats TH14 scored only 20 goals in 5 seasons at Monaco. Granted he was a winger then, but in a modern set up so effectively is Joel Campbell Pretty blinkered analogy imo especially if you didn't see the game yesterday. Campbell is 23 and Wenger must have seen something in him to persist.
I didn't use any analogy. In fact you used an analogy and a pretty "blinkered" one at that! Lost count of the number of times people on here have said we aren't allowed to make long-term judgements on players just because Bergkamp and Henry didn't score hat-tricks every week in their first 10 games. Not to mention that the whole Henry slow start thing is grossly exaggerated given that he scored 26 goals in his first season.
He did have a good World Cup but you are saying that it is impossible not to rate him because he had a few decent games at the World Cup which is complete nonsense.
Whether or not Wenger sees something in him is frankly immaterial in 2015 given how many players we have seen who were never going to make the cut but were shown ridiculously misplaced loyalty by Wenger. I have been pretty harsh on Campbell but the bloke has been simply ineffective in all but three or four games in an arsenal shirt. I fucking hope he turns into a decent player because we will be stuck with him til at least 2018 in any event but I don't see it.

Stop ffs man cos you are embarrassing yourself now
Everyone has acknowledged that campbell did well last night, and everyone has recognised that he works hard for the team (which is always good to see), but again I come back to the reality that last night he played against a 3rd rate european side and in the world cup he scored a sum total of ONE goal - for a striker of any type of quality that is not really acceptable
Btw you are of course right that le cock must see something in him to persist with him this long - I'm sure that bendtner, almunia, denilson, gibbs and chesney will back up that viewpoint, and sonago is just waiting to propel himself into that category
Embarasing really?? This is the same forum that bigged up the turd that is Podolski when it was soo obv he was shite.
If Campbell is given a chance at Arsenal, you and anyone else that has slagged him off on the basis of watching a few games will eat your words.
For starters I am not one of those that "has slagged him off" - I am very much of the belief that he is a worker and might make a good squad player, but his ability will never make him anything more than that at a club of our level. I don't dislike or hate the guy at all but simply don't think that he is good enough.
Don't you find it very ironic that you, who has criticised other Gooners for judging him harshly after watching him in a few games, are still quite ok with bigging him up on the basis of a few decent performances at the world cup ? Are you allowed to rate him highly on the basis of just a few games, but other Gooners are not allowed to knock his ability on the basis of a few games ? Typical double standards bullshit
Btw is he a striker or a winger cos you didn't address that question in my previous post ? I assume that you believe that he is a striker because he played as a striker in the world cup, but he hasn't played there for us and given a total lack of options for that position of late, one would have to wonder why he hasn't been played there Let me tell you one thing for certain, as a striker in a 4-4-2 system, Campbell isn't fit to lace podolski's boots - podolski was never equipped to play as a lone striker so le cock fcuked him out on to the wing, which allowed the likes of you to label him as turd
