Can all those that slagged off Campbell come on here for a public flogging . I question any football fan that doesn't rate a player who has excelled in the world cup. The quality was always there.

I didn't use any analogy. In fact you used an analogy and a pretty "blinkered" one at that! Lost count of the number of times people on here have said we aren't allowed to make long-term judgements on players just because Bergkamp and Henry didn't score hat-tricks every week in their first 10 games. Not to mention that the whole Henry slow start thing is grossly exaggerated given that he scored 26 goals in his first season.

He did have a good World Cup but you are saying that it is impossible not to rate him because he had a few decent games at the World Cup which is complete nonsense.

Whether or not Wenger sees something in him is frankly immaterial in 2015 given how many players we have seen who were never going to make the cut but were shown ridiculously misplaced loyalty by Wenger. I have been pretty harsh on Campbell but the bloke has been simply ineffective in all but three or four games in an arsenal shirt. Everyone has acknowledged that campbell did well last night, and everyone has recognised that he works hard for the team (which is always good to see), but again I come back to the reality that last night he played against a 3rd rate european side and in the world cup he scored a sum total of ONE goal - for a striker of any type of quality that is not really acceptable

For starters I am not one of those that "has slagged him off" - I am very much of the belief that he is a worker and might make a good squad player, but his ability will never make him anything more than that at a club of our level. I don't dislike or hate the guy at all but simply don't think that he is good enough.
