Agreed, tbh the team that wins the league deserves it and that is that which is why we won't.Dan_85 wrote:Yes, they're a bunch of horrible *word censored*. But, looking at it objectively, could you begrudge them the title? Up until this point at least, they've been everything we havent..... Consistent, hungry, together, decent manager, mental spirit.
Fuck them though, I hope the last quarter of their season turns out to be a total train wreck.

Re: Spuds
But "up till this point" are the 4 words that matter. "Up till this point" a couple of years ago we were going to be champions. Then Liverpool were destined to be champions - Suarez and co swatting everyone, winning 10 on the bounce, but as soon as expectation kicked in they blew a 3 goal lead to Palace, and lost to the Chavs. City have had seasons where they looked destined to win before blowing up - in fact after the first couple of months of this season you would have thought they had won it
Spurs have never had this level of expectation in over 50 years....and as we know (and all the examples above show), expectation at the key moments can choke teams. I said on here a couple of weeks ago that it would be games like tonight when Leicester were favourites to beat West Brom that would be their undoing and so I think it will prove. They scraped past Norwich who can't buy a point, and drew with West Brom.
Spurs winning at City and scraping past hapless Swansea seems to have confirmed to everyone that they've won the league. Tomorrow is a pressure game - suddenly they're branded 'favourites', the Shammers will be longing to stick one on them and the atmosphere will be hot. Lets see if they cope with that test - I think they'll fail it, and then people will be talking about a missed chance to go top. Then its a game against us......and we're all feeling as low as a snake's belly but have a look on Glory Glory and I guarantee you they have thousands of fans shitting it that we'll beat them.
Even if they manage to get through this month and be clear at the top I think away games at Liverpool, Stoke, Chelsea, and the final day at Newcastle (who may well need at least a point) represent more than enough opportunities to choke and splutter. They've also got the Mancs at home, and a couple of 'park the bus' tests against the likes of West Brom and Bournemouth where they will be last game up that weekend.
I don't think they'll win tomorrow and I think we'll get a draw there at the weekend. Even if they win both games there will be points dropped along the way. They've won 6 in a row.....even if they make it 8, does anyone think they'll defy history and surpass all the great teams of the past by making that 17 straight wins between now and the end of the season? We might not see the choke until early April.....but it will come....and it will come at a time when we play the 'holiday boys' and when City are hitting form too.
If all else fails and they win it.....well of course, after 38 games the team at the top deserves to win and we'd have to acknowledge that. I just don't think it will happen, and I think people vastly underestimate the impact of expectation and pressure on a young manager and team. Playing with reckless abandon is fine up until Easter - lets see if they really aren't hampered by being title favourites when the pressure really ramps up in the coming weeks. Kane has NOT been in the squad for only ONE game in all competitions this season.....that will end in disaster either through injury, burn out or lack of form

Merse is spot on with his comment if either Leicester or the spuds win the league it is a reflection of our failings, and the manager is culpable for our inability to take this gift of an opportunity.
Come on Worst Ham, you've done it before to the spuds.

Agreed. load upon man city and you can pay off your mortgage. The scum may finish top 4 but us and them will fight out 3&4.SteveO 35 wrote:I think people are confusing us being shit with them winning the league.
If City are out of it can someone offer me double the 6/1 that Paddy Power are currently offering please? The only team in the top four who know how to win it

All this is an indictment of arsenal but we all know that and we all know what the problem is and we all know it won't change until the man is removed from any influence at the club. Nothing we can do though. The situation arsenal just makes it a water of time getting worked up. We will stay at 4th place level regardless of what happens around us in any given season with aw at the helm. If it's shirty teams romping away with it as it is this year or the big teams doing it we will remain as we are.
It's not nice but I've given up caring and losing interest in high level football as a result as I know we will not compete until he goes.

Honestly even if West Ham do us a massive favour tonight can you see us beating the Spuds on Sunday. Best hope we have is that they bottle it towards the end and that City put a run together and win. I can't see us doing it after the last 6 or 7 games and especially after United defeat

This West Ham side is the best one I can remember since the days of Cottee and Mcavennie and has some impressive results this season. With their olympic stadium move about to happen they will be a very wealthy club all of a sudden.the playing mantis wrote:West ham don't think will do anyone any favors.nut flush gooner wrote:Merse is spot on with his comment if either Leicester or the spuds win the league it is a reflection of our failings, and the manager is culpable for our inability to take this gift of an opportunity.

Re: Spuds
I've said it before, I'll say it again. It's that last 10 games when the pressure breaks many teams. Two glaring examples are Toon under Keegan and the mousers under Rogers. It's happened to us before under Wenger and nearly happened in 89. Happened to Manure in 98 (I know we had games in hand).
I still reckon Citeh will hit form and win it. Enough of their squad have bee there before to deal with the pressure. We'll finish 2nd or 3rd with Leicester taking 2nd or 3rd and the scum will finish (depending if they drift out or have a cataclysmic collapse) somewhere between 4th and 7th with chavs, manure and saints somewhere in there too.
And that really shows what a poor PL it has been and how winnable it could have been for us if we had a top manager.

Difference is this season they not being stalked by obvious title contenders, no Chelsea pool or manu, a very inconsistent man city with players who know they getting a new manager, leisceter who we all know will fade....and us, the bottle bankDB10GOONER wrote:I've said it before, I'll say it again. Re: Spuds
Possibly. But the real difference this year is they are being spoken of as real contenders. They (none of the scum's current squad) have ever been in that position with the scum and that is what will break them.hartson wrote:Difference is this season they not being stalked by obvious title contenders, no Chelsea pool or manu, a very inconsistent man city with players who know they getting a new manager, leisceter who we all know will fade....and us, the bottle bankDB10GOONER wrote:I've said it before, I'll say it again. TBH I'm more concerned about NEXT season. We'll still have the same inept manager and the same spineless players and the scum (if they can hang onto Pochettino) will all be a year older and wiser and more experienced (and will probably strengthen in the summer). I don't think they'll win it this year or finish ahead of us this year - and I don't think they will win it next year (all of citeh mousers chavs and manure will strengthen this summer) but I think they will probably finish ahead of us next season.
